For the journey of education, schools serve not only as venues for student learning but also as communities where students, teachers, and parents grow together. Vanke Bilingual School is committed to placing children at the center of the future, fostering a growth mindset as its primary belief system. From December 2024 to January 2025, parent-teacher conferences were held across all grades, establishing a solid bridge of collaboration between homes, the school, and its communities to explore the limitless possibilities of education together.

三年级：看见成长，共育未来

Grade 3: Witnessing Growth, Cultivating the Future Together.

2025年1月8日，三年级的《万小双的巧克力工厂》PBL项目式学习终期展示活动与本学期家长会同步举行。活动中，学生们以小组为单位，胸有成竹地向家长们展示了他们的学习成果，他们的展示内容丰富多样、创意无限，不仅体现了孩子们在项目中的学习收获，也赢得了家长们的一致好评。 随后，家长们移步至各班教室，参与了以“看见成长，共育未来”为主题的家长会。班主任们细致入微地介绍了班级和个人发展目标，通过生动的案例，展示了孩子们的成长轨迹和进步，让家长们对孩子的变化有了更为直观的认识。针对三年级的成长关键期，班主任们提出了四个“抓”策略：抓习惯、抓学习方法、抓阅读、抓心理，旨在助力孩子平稳过渡，同时深刻阐述了家庭教育在情感滋养与人格塑造中的不可或缺性。在学科分析环节，语文、数学、英语三科教师分别进行了深入浅出的讲解，并给出了具体的指导建议。他们鼓励家长们积极参与孩子的学习过程，与孩子并肩作战。家长们反响热烈，纷纷表示此次家长会让他们对孩子的学习状况和需求有了更深刻的理解，也为他们指明了教育方向。他们承诺，将以爱为舟，与老师们共同绘制孩子成长的美好蓝图。

On January 8, 2025, the final presentation of the third-grade Project-Based Learning (PBL) project, “VBS’s Chocolate Factory,” coincided with the end of semester’s parent-teacher conference. During the event, students confidently presented their research results to their parents in groups. Their presentations were diverse and creative, reflecting the knowledge gained throughout the project, and earned unanimous praise from the parents. Afterwards, parents moved to the respective classrooms to participate in a parent conference themed ‘Witnessing Growth, Cultivating the Future Together.’ The homeroom teachers carefully covered the class and individual development goals, showcasing the students’ growth trajectories and progress through vivid examples, providing parents with a more intuitive understanding of their child’s changes. Recognizing the critical growth phase of third graders, the homeroom teachers proposed four key strategies: focusing on habits, learning methods, reading, and psychological well-being, aimed at facilitating a smooth transition for the children while emphasizing the indispensable role of family education in emotional nurturing and character development. In the subject analysis segment, teachers of Chinese, mathematics, and English provided accessible explanations and specific guidance. They encouraged parents to actively engage in their children’s learning process and to work closely with them. Parents responded enthusiastically, expressing that the conference deepened their understanding of their children's learning status and needs, while also clarifying their educational direction. They committed to navigating this journey with love, working alongside teachers to create a beautiful blueprint for their children’s growth.

四年级：共建信任·双向奔赴的家校沟通

Grade 4: Building Trust Together - Two-Way Communication Between Parents and the School.

冬至阳生暖意融，2024年12月26日，四年级的家长会温馨启幕。家长们踏进孩子们日常学习的空间，亲身体验了班级文化的构建与学习氛围的营造。班主任及科任教师们细致入微地展示了课程布局、教学亮点以及校园的独特活动，让家长们对学校的教育理念有了更加深刻的理解。本次家长会的关键在于帮助家长们洞察四年级孩子的成长特点：这一阶段的孩子正处于童年向青春期的重要转折，是培养学习能力、情绪管理能力以及塑造良好学习习惯和责任意识的关键时期。老师们针对性地提出了四项策略：强化积极沟通、监督孩子达成目标、调整与孩子的互动方式以寻找最佳沟通路径、以身作则成为孩子的楷模。会议还涵盖了孩子的学习状况、校外安全、课外阅读的必要性以及寒假的合理安排等关键议题。家长会圆满落幕之际，部分家长与教师进行了深入的一对一交流，此次会议极大地加深了家长对学校工作的认识与支持，家校携手，共同铺就孩子通往辉煌未来的道路。

On December 26, 2024, the winter solstice brought a warm atmosphere to the fourth-grade parent-teacher conference. Parents glimpsed the learning environment of their children, experiencing firsthand the development of classroom culture and the creation of a conducive learning atmosphere. The homeroom and subject teachers meticulously showcased the curriculum structure, teaching highlights, and unique school activities, providing parents with a deeper understanding of the school’s educational philosophy. A key focus of the conference was to help parents gain insights into the developmental characteristics of fourth-grade students, who are at a crucial transition from childhood to adolescence. This stage is vital for cultivating learning abilities, emotional management skills, and establishing good study habits and a sense of responsibility. The teachers proposed four targeted strategies: enhancing positive communication, monitoring children to achieve their goals, adjusting interaction methods to find the best form of communication, and modeling good behavior by being role models for the children. The conference also addressed critical topics such as students’ academic performance, safety outside of school, the importance of extracurricular reading, and appropriate arrangements for the winter break. As the parent conference successfully concluded, several parents engaged in in-depth one-on-one discussions with teachers. This meeting greatly enhanced parents’ understanding and support of the school’s work, as families and schools joined hands to pave the way for their child’s brilliant future.

五年级：培养孩子受益终身的技能习惯

Grade 5: Cultivating Lifelong Skills and Habits in Children.

2024年12月25日，经过老师们精心筹备，五年级家长会如期举行。班主任们细致地向家长们介绍了孩子们的成长蓝图、班级宗旨、课程调整、学生身心发展状况以及期末与假期的安排，为家长们勾勒出孩子在校生活的清晰画面。在探讨“我们应培养什么样的孩子”这一话题时，班主任们进一步提出了培养孩子终身受益的技能习惯，包括：用阅读拓宽视野、用运动强健体魄、用行动改善状态、用目标提升效率、用专注克服浮躁。这些理念不仅达成了家校共育的共识，更助力孩子成为主动学习者。任课老师们也对学生本学期的学习情况和课程内容进行了反馈，并提供了具体的学科学习建议。此外，部分孩子为参会家长准备了信件或小礼物，增添了家长会的温馨氛围，让家校沟通在轻松中升温，共同为孩子的成长助力。

On December 25, 2024, the fifth-grade parent-teacher conference was held as scheduled, thanks to the meticulous preparation of the teachers. The homeroom teachers provided detailed insights to the parents regarding each students’ developmental roadmap, the class’s mission, curriculum adjustments, students' physical and mental well-being, as well as the arrangements for the end of the term and the upcoming holiday, painting a clear picture of the students’ school life. During the discussion on “What kind of children should we cultivate?” the homeroom teachers emphasized the importance of instilling lifelong beneficial skills and habits in children, including broadening their horizons through reading, strengthening their bodies through sports, improving their conditions through action, enhancing efficiency through goal-setting, and overcoming restlessness through focus. These concepts not only fostered a shared understanding of parent-teacher collaboration but also empowered children to become proactive learners. Subject teachers also provided feedback on students’ academic performance and course content for the semester, along with specific learning recommendations. Additionally, some students prepared letters or small gifts for the attending parents, adding a warm atmosphere to the conference and facilitating a relaxed yet meaningful communication between home and school, collectively supporting the children’s growth.

八年级：做孩子成长的加油站

Grade 8: Being a Fueling Station for Children’s Growth.

2025年1月2日，八年级家长会聚焦家校合作、电子产品使用、学生自主发展等关键问题，开展了一场别开生面的沟通交流。班主任们分享了因电子产品失控导致孩子成绩下滑、社交障碍甚至心理问题的真实案例，深刻揭示其危害，引起家长共鸣与深思。老师们强调家长应成为孩子使用电子产品的第一道防线，帮助孩子建立健康使用习惯，并针对寒假，建议家庭重新签订电子产品公约并严格执行。会上还详细介绍了《班级和学生自主发展评价方案》，通过“金海豚班”“海豚之星”等评价体系，关注学生综合素质与自主发展能力，激发学生内在动力。班主任鼓励家长与孩子深入对话，共同探讨理想与现实，提供职业体验机会，增进亲子理解。此外，老师们还提出了创造和睦家庭氛围、少说教多鼓励、多陪伴孩子、制定小目标树立自信、订下家庭学习规矩等建议。家长们分享了孩子本学期变化及自身感受，现场交流氛围热烈，家长们对孩子的成长感到欣慰。

On January 2, 2025, the eighth-grade parent-teacher conference focused on key issues such as parent-teacher collaboration, the use of electronic devices, and student autonomy. The event facilitated a unique dialogue where homeroom teachers shared real-life cases of students experiencing declining academic performance, social difficulties, and even psychological issues due to uncontrolled use of electronic products. This highlighted the dangers and resonated deeply with parents, prompting reflection. Teachers emphasized that parents should serve as the first line of defense in guiding their children’s use of electronic devices, helping them establish healthy habits. In light of the upcoming winter break, they recommended that families revisit and strictly enforce their electronic device agreements. The conference also introduced the “Class and Student Autonomy Development Evaluation Plan,” which utilizes evaluation systems like “Golden Dolphin Class” and “Dolphin Star” to focus on students’ overall quality and self-development capabilities, thereby giving greater motivation. Homeroom teachers encouraged parents to engage in meaningful conversations with their children to develop realistic aspirations, provide career exploration opportunities, and enhance family communication. Additionally, teachers suggested fostering a harmonious family environment, encouraging rather than lecturing, spending quality time with children, setting small goals to build confidence, and establishing rules for study. Parents shared observations of their child’s progress this semester and their own feelings, creating a vibrant atmosphere of exchange, and expressing satisfaction with their children’s growth.

九年级：锚定成长目标，为孩子撑好逐梦长篙

Grade 9:  Anchor the Growth Goal, Support the Children’s Dreams

2025年1月14日，九年级家长会在学校小剧场隆重启幕。林红英校长助理在讲话中着重强调了成长目标对学生成长的重要性，鼓励学生树立远大理想并将其细化为切实可行的中考目标。同时，她还对寒假时间的合理利用以及电子产品的规范使用提出了具体要求。杨帆校长也对家长们表达了殷切期望。会后，家长们返回各自班级教室，参加了本班家长会。学科老师们与家长深入交流了学生本学期的学习情况，并针对孩子们的具体情况，提出了学习建议和策略。在班主任的总结发言中，本次家长会圆满结束。家长们纷纷表示，将积极配合学校的工作，为孩子的未来努力，为孩子的中考之路保驾护航。

On January 14, 2025, the ninth-grade parent conference grandly commenced in the school theater. Assistant Principal Lin Hongying emphasized the importance of growth objectives for student development in her speech, encouraging students to establish ambitious aspirations and translate them into actionable goals for the upcoming high school entrance examination. Additionally, she provided specific guidelines on the effective use of winter vacation time and the appropriate use of electronic devices. Principal Yang Fan also conveyed her earnest expectations for the parents. Following the meeting, parents returned to the respective classrooms to participate in class-specific parent meetings. Subject teachers engaged in in-depth discussions with parents regarding students’ academic progress for the semester and offered tailored learning suggestions and strategies based on individual student circumstances. The meeting concluded successfully with a summary speech from the homeroom teacher. Parents expressed their commitment to actively support the school’s initiatives, striving for their children’s future and safeguarding their path to the high school entrance examination.
