On March 2nd, 2026, VBSers welcomed the first day of the new semester. They walked into the school happily with their schoolbags on their backs. Cheerful greetings filled the air — "Good morning, teacher!" "Happy New Year!" — as the children waved enthusiastically to their teachers, who responded with warm smiles to every familiar face. Full of hope and anticipation, VBS students and teachers embarked together on a new journey of growth.

3月6日，2025-2026学年第二学期开学典礼暨第一周升旗仪式在学校操场隆重举行。本次活动由8I班的杨雨秋同学和郑佳依同学担任主持。担任护旗方阵的是8I班全体同学，他们身姿挺拔、精神抖擞，迈着坚定有力的步伐，以昂扬的姿态守护五星红旗的荣光。秉承“团结包容”的班级目标，他们庄严完成了新学期首次升旗仪式。

On March 6th, 2026, the flag-raising ceremony for the first week of the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year was held on the playground of Vanke Bilingual School. This ceremony was hosted by Class 8I. Students Yang Yuqiu (Echo) and Zheng Jiayi (Jessie) served as the hosts. With "Unity and Inclusiveness" as their creed, the students of Class 8I marched in steadfast strides, upholding the glory of the Five-Starred Red Flag with unwavering pride. All of the other students in Class 8I joined the flag color guard, and they carried out the solemn flag-raising ceremony together.

"Welcome back, dream chasers of VBS!" With this warm greeting, Principal Yang Fan commenced her flag-raising speech for the new semester.

首先，杨校带领全体师生回顾了热气腾腾的中国年：春运95亿人次的流动里，是中国人对团圆最深沉的眷恋；春晚舞台上起舞的人形机器人背后，是“中国智造”定义未来的底气。

She began by reflecting on a vibrant and spirited Chinese New Year. The 9.5 billion inter-regional trips made during the Spring Festival travel rush, she noted, embodied the Chinese people's profound longing for reunion and mirrored the vigorous pulse of the nation's economy. Behind the humanoid robots dancing gracefully on the Spring Festival Gala stage lay the confidence of "Intelligent Manufacturing in China" defining the future.

随后，杨校细数了过去一年师生共同书写的荣耀篇章：万双荣获胡润百富“2025年度卓越教育影响力品牌”，师生团队在未来之城、VEX机器人、模拟联合国等赛事中载誉而归，周金凤主任、耿适意老师也在各自领域摘得殊荣......“这些瞬间印证着我们努力奋斗的汗水与荣耀。”杨校的话语，让在场师生重温那份属于万双的骄傲，更让大家明白：时代的进步由每一个奋斗者推动，万双的荣光也同样源于每一份坚持与付出。

“原来幸福从不在远方，就藏在父母递来的热牛奶里，在朋友分享的一块蛋糕中，在攻克难题后相视一笑的默契间。幸福的真谛，藏在‘给予’与‘被需要’的温暖里。”杨帆校长借诺贝尔文学奖得主莫里斯·梅特林克的哲理童话《青鸟》中的故事，让师生们明白——身边的每一个人都值得用心感知、用心给予。幸福从来不是遥不可及的梦想，而是俯身与抬眼间，那些被我们接住的生活点滴。

"Happiness never lies in some distant place—it is hidden in the warm milk your parents hand you, in the slice of cake shared by a friend, in the knowing smile exchanged after solving a difficult problem together. The true essence of happiness dwells in the warmth of 'giving' and 'being needed.'" Drawing on the philosophical fairy tale The Blue Bird by Nobel laureate Maurice Maeterlinck, Principal Yang Fan illuminated for her audience a simple truth: every person around us deserves to be felt with the heart and cherished with kindness. Happiness is never an unattainable dream; it is the small moments of life we catch—between a bow and a glance—that we hold close.

Taking the stage first was the imposing Yingge square formation. With double batons in hand, the students marched in powerful, synchronized steps. Batons twirling like blossoming flowers, their movements radiated the vibrant energy of youth; drums thundering to the heavens, their rhythm became the perfect expression of youthful spirit. Through their dynamic choreography, they brought to life the majestic beauty of Lingnan's traditional culture.

Then came the lion dance, performed by VBS teachers. Moving to the drumbeats, they leaped and played with such lifelike charm that they drew thunderous applause from the audience. This scene of teachers and students sharing the stage—as both mentors and friends—vividly embodied VBS's philosophy of "symbiosis."

The biggest surprise came when VBS's very own "robot dog Xiaoyu" joined the performance, dressed in a custom-made lion costume. Wagging its tail and shaking its head, it trotted alongside the "lions," occasionally playfully "waving" to the children. Its adorable antics instantly electrified the crowd, sparking waves of cheers and laughter. In this moment, traditional folk culture and cutting-edge technology converged in perfect harmony—a living testament to VBS's guiding philosophy: we are both guardians of our cultural heritage and explorers of the future.

This winter vacation, we witnessed a vibrant Chinese New Year together. As the bell of the Lunar Year of the Horse rang out, the great tide of the Spring Festival travel rush surged across China — by March 13th, an estimated 9.5 billion inter-regional trips had been made, embodying the 1.4 billion Chinese people's profound longing for family reunion, while also reflecting the vigorous pulse of our economic vitality. Amid the warm lights of thousands of homes on New Year's Eve, humanoid robots danced gracefully on the Spring Festival Gala stage, perfectly replicating Chinese kung fu with agile flips. This collision of technology and tradition amazed the world — a vivid testament to China's innovation, as "Intelligent Manufacturing in China" defines the future with undeniable strength.

These two days, I read The Blue Bird, a philosophical fairy tale by Maurice Maeterlinck, the Nobel Prize in Literature laureate, which was lent to me by Han Zaiyang from Class 3E. In the story, Tyltyl and Mytyl, in search of the blue bird that symbolizes happiness, journeyed through the Misty Forest, visited the Land of Memory, and braved the Palace of Night — enduring countless trials yet finding nothing at first. It was only at the end that they suddenly realized: happiness is never far away. It hides in the warm milk handed to you by your parents, in a slice of cake shared by friends, and in the silent understanding of a smile exchanged after solving a difficult problem. Their courage teaches us to "fear no difficulty"; their persistence tells us to "never give up." And the kindness of the Light Fairy, the loyalty of the dog Tylo, further reveal to us that the true meaning of happiness lies in the warmth of "giving" and "being needed." Just like the security guards, canteen staff, cleaning aunts, school bus drivers, as well as our teachers and classmates at VBS — everyone around you deserves to be felt with your heart and cherished with kindness. Happiness is never an unattainable dream, but the little moments in life that you catch with your heart — in every bow and every glance.
