Jiang Xinyang (Alisa) from Class 4D delivered a compelling speech titled "Never Retreat When Facing Difficulties," centering on the theme of confronting challenges with unwavering resolve. She structured her talk around three core principles—"difficulties are a natural part of growth," "maintaining a positive mindset," and "adopting effective strategies"—and unfolded her ideas with clarity and grace. Drawing from her personal journey of learning the piano, Alisa vividly described her progression with slow, deliberate practice to ultimately achieve first place in a piano competition. Through her heartfelt storytelling, she conveyed a steadfast belief that "difficulties are not obstacles, but teachers that guide us toward growth," inspiring her peers to embrace challenges with courage and wisdom. The judges highly commended her confident stage presence and clear, precise pronunciation, while also praising the optimistic attitude and reflective thinking evident throughout her speech. Additionally, the judges kindly suggested that she could relax on stage more by reducing her reliance on glancing back at the PPT, allowing her delivery to flow with even greater ease.

Tu Baoyuan (Tiger) from Class 4E delivered an engaging speech centered on the theme of "Growing Up." Using his personal journey of having an intense fear of water at age six to eventually swimming across a pool as his narrative thread, he vividly recounted his transformation from trembling hesitation to courageousness, culminating in the discovery of freedom and joy in the water. Tiger shared that it was this experience of conquering fear that equipped him with the courage to face the challenge of public speaking. He reminded himself, "If I could overcome my fear of water, I can certainly overcome the nervousness of speaking in front of others." Today, even with lingering traces of unease, he confidently stood on stage, and fluently shared his growth story in English. Through his narrative, Tiger conveyed that growth is not merely about skill enhancement but having a profound shift in mindset. True courage, he emphasized, lies not in the absence of fear, but in moving forward despite it. The judges praised his authentic and moving storytelling, his natural and fluent delivery, and particularly admired his ability to elevate personal reflection into a universally resonant philosophy of growth.

4G班叶一泽(Zack)带来了题为“ Learn to Swim, Learn to Grow”的动人演讲。

Ye Yize (Zack) from Class 4G delivered a moving speech titled "Learn to Swim, Learn to Grow." Using his journey of learning to swim as the central narrative, he candidly recounted his story of growth—from starting by facing setbacks and giving up, then finding the courage to return and ultimately surpass his own limits. Zack openly admitted that despite initially considering himself a capable swimmer, the rigors of professional training led him to falter. However, with the unwavering encouragement and support of his parents, he returned to the pool. This time, instead of avoiding the challenge, he focused intently on overcoming the technical hurdle of "how to swim faster," eventually mastering the freestyle, butterfly, and backstroke. Through this journey of highs and lows, he came to a profound realization: growth often lies not in smooth sailing, but in the moments we choose perseverance and commit to consistent practice. In his speech, Zack not only shared his progress in gaining swimming skills but also conveyed a deeper insight—that true advancement stems from the courage to persist through challenges and face difficulties head-on. The judges praised his sincere and layered storytelling, and particularly commended the reflective spirit and increasingly poised stage presence he demonstrated during his delivery.

Gao Runze (Andy) from Class 4G delivered a captivating speech titled "An Unforgettable Piano Competition." Opening with the evocative strains of a piano melody, he recounted how he was deeply enchanted by the music his mother played in his childhood, embarking on his own piano journey at the age of six. Andy dedicated himself to daily practice, transforming his passion into a discipline of his fingertips. Through rigorous participation in two major piano competitions, he honed his skills and ultimately achieved first place in the 8th Asia Piano Competition, earning a place in the Chinese national finals. In his speech, he expressed pride in this accomplishment, but what resonated even more profoundly was his reflection on the unwavering focus and heartfelt dedication behind the accolades. A recording of his competition performance was played during the talk, transporting the audience to that radiant stage and allowing them to share in the emotional power of his sincere and beautifully rendered music. The judges praised his calm and composed delivery, his clear narrative structure, and his natural embodiment of the theme that "passion and perseverance compose the finest symphony of growth."

4F班薛景文(Kevin)演讲的题目是“From Fear to Freedom”。

Xue Jingwen (Kevin) from Class 4F delivered a speech titled "From Fear to Freedom." Weaving a tale from a poignant childhood memory, he vividly recounted an episode from his early years: at the age of three, when suffering from a high fever, he was required to take medicine but was so terrified of its bitter taste that he cried and ran around the room, ultimately being chased by his father to be forced to swallow the dose. That bitter experience crystallized in his mind a "medicine monster" as a symbol of fear. Years later, when he mustered the courage to try again, he was surprised to discover that the medicine was actually sweet. In that moment, he realized the true monster was not the medicine itself, but the fear amplified within his own mind. Through this authentic and childlike story, Kevin conveyed a powerful insight to his peers: fear often resembles a paper tiger—imposing in appearance yet easily torn apart. Only by actively confronting and personally testing our fears can we break free from inner constraints and move toward genuine growth and freedom. The judges commended his delicate and vivid storytelling, rich with imagery, and praised his ability to draw sincere, reflective lessons from everyday moments, showcasing remarkable expressiveness and empathy.

4I班李依琳(Yiyi)带来了题为“The Lesson I Learned from Dancing”的精彩演讲。

From Class 4I, Li Yilin (Yiyi) delivered an inspiring speech titled "The Lesson I Learned from Dancing." Deeply moved by the biography of a dancer, it planted the seed of ballet in her heart. Dancing since the age of three, Yiyi shared that she once faced a seemingly simple yet profoundly challenging obstacle—the inability to maintain a stable one-legged stance. Rather than retreating, she devised a step-by-step plan for training herself. Through daily perseverance and refinement, she eventually progressed from unsteady wobbling to being able to hold the pose steadily for three minutes. This journey from "I can’t" to "I can" allowed her to understand that growth is paved with diverse challenges—they are not endpoints, but stepping stones to progress. As long as one persists in seeking solutions and continues to practice, it is possible to transcend one’s own limits. In her speech, Yiyi, with a gentle yet resolute tone, skillfully connected the discipline of dance with the resilience required in life, demonstrating the profound power of finding insight through art and growth through persistence. The judges praised her authentic storytelling and clear narrative, as well as her ability to distill universal wisdom about growth from the mastery of a specific skill.

The purpose is to enable students to be able to speak freely, confidently and bravely; to be good at thinking, debating, and doing research.

The stage of E-talk is open. We welcome every future teenager of VBS to come here, stand in the spotlight, and show their unique charm to the world; we encourage children to challenge themselves and break through difficulties; we believe that every child has unlimited potential. As long as they have the courage to stand on the stage, they may become real speakers.

Let us look forward to how the future teenagers of VBS will use their voices to lead us into their world and feel their enthusiasm and vitality on the E-talk stage.
