Dear teachers and students,
Good morning!
The topic of our speech today is "Fire safety is of great importance".
Fire is never far from us. According to data released by fire departments, in recent years, more than 200,000 fire accidents have occurred in China every year, causing shocking casualties and property losses.
Most of these accidents are caused by people's carelessness and lack of prevention awareness.
Therefore, fire safety in our daily life is particularly important.
At home, we should do the following things. Unplug electrical appliances promptly after use; Keep candles and mosquito coils away from flammable materials such as curtains or paper; Be careful to prevent oil from catching fire when cooking; Check if the gas stove is turned off after use; Call "119" quickly in case of fire.
When going out in public, we should check for all emergency exits, be orderly when evacuating, don’t block the safety passages, and don’t throw cigarette butts at will.
We should pay more attention to fire prevention: Do not use open fires for heating, having barbecues or setting off fireworks and firecrackers in grassy areas. A small spark may cause an irreversible forest fire.
Fire safety is also important on our campus. We should abide by the school's safety regulations: Do not bring flammable and explosive materials into the school; Do not use electrical appliances without permission; Keep classrooms and corridors clean and tidy, do not pile up cartons and debris, and ensure that safety thoroughfares are unobstructed.
In case of a sudden fire, we should follow the teachers' instructions, evacuate calmly and orderly.
We have actually learned this knowledge in our safety education class meetings, but what is more important is to truly put it into practice.
Only when we turn safety awareness into daily habit and knowledge about fire into practical action can we really stay away from fires and let safety be with us.
Fire safety is of paramount importance; preventing disasters starts with small details. Let us work together, start from now and every detail, and build a solid and protective wall for our lives!
That’s all of our speech. Thank you all!

Remember the History of Recovery and Aspire for National Reunification
Dear Teachers and Students,
Good morning! As we greet the morning sun and watch the national flag fluttering, today we gather to talk about an important newly established memorial day — Taiwan Recovery Day.
Just last month, on October 24th, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress adopted a decision, designating October 25th as Taiwan Recovery Day every year. The next day, the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Taiwan’s Recovery was held in Beijing, with state leaders in attendance to deliver speeches. Behind this news lies a history that every Chinese person should cherish and remember.
Eighty years ago, on October 25th, 1945, the solemn “Surrender Ceremony of Taiwan Province in China’s War Zone” was held at Zhongshan Hall in Taipei. Taiwan, which had been occupied by Japanese invaders for 50 years, finally returned to the motherland’s embrace. This history dates back to 1895, when the Qing government was defeated in the First Sino-Japanese War and forced to sign an unequal treaty, ceding Taiwan to Japan. During that half-century, compatriots in Taiwan never ceased their resistance. Countless ancestors laid down their lives and shed their blood for the motherland. It was not until 1945, when the Chinese people achieved a great victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, that Taiwan was officially recovered in accordance with international agreements after World War II. At that time, the Taiwan Provincial Administration Commission specially issued an order, designating October 25th as the “Taiwan Recovery Festival” and granting a one-day holiday across the province to celebrate. However, some people later deliberately downplayed this history and canceled the holiday. Yet compatriots in Taiwan never forgot their family and national sentiments — pro-reunification groups have persisted in holding commemorative activities every year. It was not until May this year, with the promotion and cooperation of relevant political parties in Taiwan, that the Recovery Festival was restored as a “statutory holiday”. Today, the country’s establishment of the national-level Taiwan Recovery Day is to ensure that this history of bloody struggle and return is forever engraved in the hearts of every Chinese.
Some students may ask: What is the purpose of establishing this memorial day? Just as we remember our own birthdays, a country also needs to cherish such important moments. It tells the world that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China — this is an unshakable historical fact that no one can distort. Just as Russia has Victory Day over Nazi Germany and the United States has their Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we safeguard historical truth through memorial days.
For us primary and secondary school students, this memorial day holds special educational significance. Nowadays, a small number of people deliberately tamper with textbooks, making young people in Taiwan forget their roots. By learning about the history of its recovery, we can understand that “compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are one family” is not just an empty slogan. Compatriots in Taiwan, like us, are all descendants of Yan and Huang, and we once fought side by side to defend the motherland.
Last week, Fujian and Taiwan simultaneously held the “Cross-Strait Joint Singing · Rejuvenation Run” event. With dragon dances and joint runs, it was as lively as a family reunion. This shows that no matter how far apart we are, the hearts of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are always connected.
Students, patriotism is never an empty slogan. Remembering the history of Taiwan’s recovery means understanding the importance of safeguarding national reunification. Cherishing the peaceful life we have now means transforming this love into motivation for learning. Let us start by understanding history and respecting traditions, and grow into good young people who care about their family and country. May we look forward to the early and complete reunion of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
