In order to improve students’ comprehensive ability in speech and expression, improve students’ comprehensive literacy in Chinese and English, and let children stand at the center of the stage, Vanke Bilingual School’s 52th E-talk event was held in the school theater at 8 a.m. on October 27th, 2025. More than 200 teachers and students listened to the speech live. And it was also live-streamed simultaneously to the entire school.
本次E-talk活动的主题是 “生命的意义”,来自七至八年级的9名同学用中文分享了他们在阅读与生活中获得的深刻感悟,评委老师为同学们的精彩表现做了细致点评。
The theme of this E-talk was The Meaning of Life. Nine students from Grades 7 and 8 shared their profound insights gained from reading and daily life in Chinese, and the judging teachers gave detailed comments on their wonderful performances.
一、在平凡日常中看见生命的质地
I Witnessing the Essence of Life in Everyday Life
7C练媛同学在《缓慢的绿色》演讲中,以绿皮火车为线索,描绘了普通人的生命图景。那些静默沉思的大叔、为家庭奔波的工人、挑灯夜读的学生、被亲情守护的老人——他们如同缓慢前行的绿皮火车,虽不耀眼,却始终怀揣着对生活的执着。“虽慢但永不止步”成为她对生命态度的最好诠释。
In her speech “The Slow Green”, Lian Yuan from Class 7C saw the green train as a clue to depict life portraits of ordinary people. Those uncles lost in thought, workers toiling for their families, students burning the midnight oil, and elderly people cared for by their families—they are just like the slow-moving green train. Though not dazzling, they always hold fast to their dedication in life. “Slow but never stopping” became her best interpretation of this attitude towards life.

郭老师点评:“你的讲述里没有宏大叙事,却有细碎到尘埃里的温暖。正是这些片段,藏着‘活着’最本真的模样。”
Teacher Guo commented: “There is no grand narrative in your story, but there is warmth in the tiny details that seem as trivial as dust. It is precisely these fragments that hold the most authentic appearance of ‘living’.”

7I班张晰涵同学在《雨落旧照时,我听见生命的回响》中,从余华《活着》的福贵到赛场上的郑钦文,从海伦·凯勒到自己的解题时光,她发现:不必执着于壮烈的定义,只需热烈拥抱每个当下。“课堂的专注、成长的刻度、对世界的微末付出,都将在时光里沉淀出生命最坚实的重量。”
In her speech “When Rain Falls on Old Photos, I Hear the Echo of Life”, Zhang Xihan from Class 7I drew connections between the character Fu Gui in Yu Hua’s To Live and Zheng Qinwen on the sports field, and from Helen Keller to Xihan’s own time spent solving problems. She realized: “There’s no need to cling to the definition of grandeur; we just need to embrace every moment with enthusiasm. ‘The focus in class, the milestones of growth, and the small contributions to the world will all accumulate the most weight of life as time passes.’”

刘老师赞赏她“将深刻思考与真实经历自然串联,让生命意义充满生活的温度”。
Teacher Liu praised her for “naturally connecting profound thoughts with real-life experiences, filling the meaning of life with the warmth of daily life.”
二、在微小生命里发现坚韧的力量
II Discovering the Power of Tenacity in Tiny Lives
7E班谭凯琳同学在《以微芒撞向山海》中,通过石缝野草、搬运食物的蚂蚁和自己报名演讲的经历,诠释了“勇敢是即便心颤也愿行动”的真谛。她坚信生命的意义不在于“被光照亮”,而在于“撞向山海时绝不熄灭自身微芒”。
In her speech “Rushing Towards Mountains and Seas with a Tiny Spark”, Tan Kailin from Class 7E used examples of wild grass growing in rock crevices, ants carrying food, and her own experience of signing up for the speech to interpret the true meaning of “courage”: being willing to act even when your heart is trembling. She firmly believed that the meaning of life does not lie in “being illuminated by light”, but in “never extinguishing our own tiny spark when rushing towards mountains and seas”.

鄂老师引导她思考:“除了这些,生活中还有哪些关于‘撞’的经历可以分享?”
Teacher E urged her to think: “Besides these, what other experiences of ‘rushing forward’ in life can you share?”
8I班车蕊同学以《昆虫记》为镜,在《在微小生命中,探寻生命的重量》中剖析了蚂蚁的协作、蝉的蛰伏、被管虫的担当。她感悟到:“生命的壮丽从不在体积,而在默默积蓄的日夜、并肩作战的携手、坦然负累的前行。”
Taking The Insects as a mirror, Ban Rui from Class 8I analyzed the cooperation of ants, the hibernation of cicadas, and the sense of responsibility of case moths in her speech “Exploring the Weight of Life in Tiny Creatures”. She realized: “The grandeur of life never lies in its size, but in the days and nights of quiet accumulation, the solidarity of fighting side by side, and the courage to move forward with burdens calmly.”

刘老师评价她的演讲“像一帧帧温柔的生活切片,让‘生命重量’不再抽象”。
Teacher Liu commented that her speech was “like gentle slices of life frame by frame, making the ‘weight of life’ no longer abstract.”

三、在哲思追问中探寻生命的平衡
III Exploring the Balance of Life in Philosophical Inquiry
8E班林上懿同学在《在创造与接纳之间》中,巧妙联结《弗兰肯斯坦》与《佐贺的超级阿嬷》两本书,探讨了生命真谛:“我们既是自我生命的创造者,以努力塑未来模样;更是生命的接纳者,以包容承生活起落。”
In his speech “Between Creation and Acceptance”, Lin Shangyi from Class 8E skillfully connected two books—Frankenstein and Saga’s Super Grandma—to explore the true meaning of life: “We are not only the creators of our own lives, shaping the future with our efforts, but also acceptors of our fate, bearing the ups and downs of life with tolerance.”

向老师肯定了他“强大的思辨能力”,并请他分享平衡“创造与接纳”的实际例子。
Teacher Xiang affirmed his “strong critical thinking skills” and asked him to share practical examples of balancing “creation and acceptance”.

In his speech “In the Silence of Ditan Park, Listening to the Echo of Life”, Mao Yirui from Class 8I used Shi Tiesheng’s The Temple of Earth and I as a key to unlock the true essence of the meaning of life. In the desolate garden of the Temple of Earth, Shi Tiesheng realized from the cycles of the four seasons and the rhythms of tiny lives (such as ants and dewdrops) that “death is a festival that does not need to be hurried”—the meaning of life never lies in its ending, but in the whole experience filled with intertwining joys and sorrows, solemnity and vitality. Looking back on daily life with this insight, those once-overlooked moments—the cafeteria aunt’s reminder of “Be careful, it’s hot”, the peaceful faces of the elderly, and the focused glow of deskmates solving problems—have all become true footnotes to the meaning of life. He finally concluded: “There’s no need to cling to the ultimate answer. We just need to wholeheartedly engage in the grand journey of life, and the meaning of life will naturally shine brightly in ordinary days.”

郭老师鼓励她举例说明“如何全身心投入生活的过程”。
Teacher Guo encouraged him to give examples of “how to wholeheartedly engage in the process of life”.

四、在伤痛与坚守中书写滚烫故事
IV Writing Passionate Stories Through Pain and Perseverance
With “Facing Pain Head-on and Persevering Bravely” as the core of his speech “Facing Pain Head-On and Persevering Bravely”, Li Pinrui from Class 8C unfolded a spiritual narrative through the life journey of Derrick Rose. From showing talent in the slums to suffering a severe injury at the peak of his career, Rose responded to the hardships of fate with the unceasing sound of missed shots in the basketball gym at mornings. This perseverance of “never thinking of giving up” made basketball the meaning of his life, and also made the essence of his life more profound because of desperation. The weight of life lies in the courage to face pain head-on and the perseverance to never give up. May we take this perseverance as a pen and write our own passionate stories on the canvas of youth.

郭老师点评道:“‘我从未想过放弃,因为篮球不仅是我的职业,更是我活下去的意义’。这是罗斯涅槃重生的勇气,更是来自生命底部的脆响。所以你以‘直面伤痛 勇于坚守’为核,表青春践行之志。我很感动,谢谢你的分享!”
Teacher Guo commented: “I never thought of giving up, because basketball is not only my career, but also the meaning of my life’—this is the courage of Derrick Rose’s revival, and a crisp sound from the depths of life. By taking ‘facing pain head-on and persevering bravely’ as the core, you have expressed your aspiration to act in youth. I am deeply moved—thank you for your sharing!”

7G班陈昕妤同学在《生命有声,万物成歌》中,从叶语鸟鸣到石缝小草,从带病跑完800米的亲身经历,诠释了生命的多重声响。她愿大家“以美为衣、以劲为骨、以坚韧为帆,活成人生旷野上永不熄灭的光”。
In her speech “Life Has a Voice, and All Things Become a Song”, Chen Xinyu from Class 7G interpreted the multiple “sounds” of life through the whispers of leaves, the songs of birds, the grass in rock crevices, and her personal experience of running the 800-meter race while being ill. She hoped that everyone would “clothe themselves with beauty, strengthen their bones with vitality, set sail with perseverance, and live as an unquenchable light in the wilderness of life.”

向老师感谢她“对生命的深刻感悟”。
Teacher Xiang thanked her for her “profound insights into life”.
五、在永恒循环中寻找生命的意义
V Seeking the Meaning of Life in Eternal Cycles
In his speech “Questioning the Fate of Cycles, Preserving Eternal Echoes”, Jian Yi from Class 8G questioned the unique significance of individual struggle through Pythagoras’ cosmic law of “eternal recurrence”. He also tackled the dilemma that “the passing of life means nothingness” with Jorge Luis Borges’ poetic declaration: “The only thing that does not exist is oblivion”—everything that has ever existed has carved an immortal mark in the fabric of time. He eventually concluded with Ye Jiaying’s words: “When the lotus flower withers, it leaves lotus seeds for the coming year.” “An individual’s life is as elegant as a lotus; even though it will wither, it can inject the ‘spiritual lotus seeds’ into time, allowing strength to break through the soil and be reborn in the future.” Throughout his speech, he interpreted the true meaning of life through his journey of thoughts: “There’s no need to fear fate; instead, we should sow ‘seeds of eternity’ in the years through our actions, making every moment a lotus pond that nurtures infinite vitality.”

鄂老师点评道:“简易同学,你的演讲跳出了表层表达,融入了对生命意义的哲学思考,观点很有深度,非常打动人,很感谢你的分享!”
Teacher E commented: “Jian Yi, your speech has broken free from superficial expressions and integrated philosophical thinking on the meaning of life. Your viewpoints are profound and deeply touching—thank you for your sharing!”

本期E-talk在热烈的掌声中圆满落幕。九位同学从不同维度探寻生命意义,在表达与思辨中展现了万双学子细腻的观察力、深刻的思考力和温暖的人文情怀。每个分享都如一颗种子,在听众心中悄然生根,静待花开。
This E-talk came to a successful conclusion amid warm applause. The nine students explored the meaning of life from different perspectives, demonstrating VBS students’ keen observation, profound thinking, and warm humanistic feelings through their presentations. Each sharing is like a seed, quietly taking root in the hearts of the audience, waiting for the day it blooms.
