3I Cherry: Exploring Bizarre Deep-Sea Creatures

1.1.JPG

Cherry from Class 3I captivated the audience with a journey into the mysterious deep sea. She introduced the anglerfish, whose bioluminescent lure and sharp teeth make it a master hunter; the blobfish, whose gelatinous body adapts to high-pressure depths but “melts” into a droopy shape when brought to the surface; and the semi-transparent glass octopus, cloaked in an ethereal blue glow. Cherry urged everyone to protect these creatures by avoiding polluting the ocean. The judges gave feedback: “With your clear and melodious voice, you masterfully guided the audience on an immersive marine exploration journey, and successfully sparked their thirst for knowledge about the mysterious marine world! Practicing your speech pacing could further amplify your charisma on stage.”

2.1.JPG

Lillian from Class 1X guided listeners on a subterranean exploration of cavefish. She described their snow-white, scaleless bodies that resemble “drifting clouds,” their lack of sight, and other heightened sensory adaptations needed for navigating darkness. Lillian also humorously noted how cavefish ancestors initially “bumbled through caves” before evolving to thrive. The judges applauded: “Your vivid descriptions taught us about these fascinating creatures! Strengthen your eye contact and hand gestures to make your delivery even more dynamic.”

Emmy from Class 2I likened jellyfish to “the fairies of the ocean,” highlighting their 500-million-year existence. Drawing from her visit to Dameisha Beach, she cautioned against touching jellyfish and advised to use sticks to gently return stranded ones back to the sea. The judges highlighted: “Your heartfelt call to protect these fragile creatures was both inspiring and impactful. Well done!”

In her speech titled Climbing Tanglang Mountain, Emily from Class 1C vividly shared about her hiking adventure with her mother. She first immersed the audience in the natural beauty of Tanglang Mountain’s trails—talking about its stone-paved steps, lush green forests, and vibrant flowers, with a special mention of Shenzhen city’s official flower, the bougainvillea. She then recounted a delightful encounter with a troop of monkeys, whimsically dubbed “little spirits,” and described the heartwarming moment when she fed them pieces of cake. During her speech, Emily revealed how her mother encouraged her to push through her fatigue and reach the summit. When she finally stood atop the mountain, gazing at the breathtaking view below, she felt immense pride in her perseverance, declaring, “Nothing is impossible for a willing heart!” The judges remarked: “For a first-grade student to deliver such a composed and fluent speech on stage is truly remarkable! With continued practice in sentence coherence and rhythmic delivery, you will undoubtedly grow into an even more outstanding speaker.”

She vividly described the mountain’s wonders: the whispering emerald bamboo rustling in the wind, wildflowers scattered like stars across the grass, and the solemn statue of Deng Xiaoping that inspired quiet reverence. She engaged the audience with stories of playing a “landmark-spotting” game from the observation deck and picnicking with friends on a carpet-like green lawn. Concluding her speech, Amanda encouraged everyone to “measure heights with your steps!” The judges commented: “You delivered your speech with grace, allowing us to feel your passion for hiking and visualize the breathtaking scenery alongside you. Thank you! To further captivate your audience, try relaxing more, practicing more expressive facial gestures, and smiling warmly—these will make your delivery even more compelling!”
