In March 2025, spring was in full bloom. On the stage at the Young Pioneers’ team election in Vanke Bilingual School, second-grade student Celine stood out among 53 other candidates with her innovative proposal, the “Three Little Suns Plan,” and became the first second-grade chief in the history of the school. This breakthrough not only set a new record for the school but also demonstrated Vanke Bilingual School’s full recognition and trust in the potential of younger students.

在竞选演讲中，康熙琳说想做一个像小太阳一样温暖别人的大队长，给她的行动计划起了个好听的名字——“三个小太阳”：第一个太阳温暖学业，通过跨年级辅导打破知识壁垒；第二个太阳照亮心灵，让大队长信箱成为沟通桥梁；第三个太阳点燃希望，通过导师制实现成长接力。这种充满童趣又极具实操性的构思，不仅赢得现场阵阵掌声，更引发教育者对“如何让儿童领导力自然生长”的深度思考。

In her campaign speech, Celine expressed her desire to be a chief who warms others like a little sun, giving her action plan an appealing name — “Three Little Suns”: the first sun warms academic achievement by breaking down knowledge barriers through cross-grade tutoring; the second sun illuminates the soul by making the chief’s mailbox a communication bridge; the third sun ignites hope by implementing a mentorship system for cooperative growth. This playful yet highly practical idea not only received rounds of applause at the venue, but also inspired educators to deeply contemplate “how to allow children’s leadership to grow naturally.”

竞选历程：低年级学生的破茧之旅

Election Process: The Journey of Emerging from the Cocoon for Young Students

本次竞选活动首次向更低年级学生开放，吸引了2-8年级共53名学生踊跃递交申请表。经过少先队知识考核（包括理论笔试与情景模拟）的严格筛选，18名候选人脱颖而出，进入最终的现场答辩环节。答辩现场设置了“2分钟演讲+即兴问答”环节，评委团由党员教师、学生会成员及2-8年级学生代表组成，他们从不同角度对候选人进行提问和综合评分，确保选拔过程的公平、公正与全面。

This election activity was the first to open up to younger students, attracting a total of 53 students from grades 2 to 8 eager to submit applications. Following a stringent selection process that included knowledge assessments on the Young Pioneers program (both theoretical written tests and situational simulations), 18 candidates were selected to move on to the final live-defense round. The defense session featured a “2-minute speech + impromptu Q&A” segment, with a judging panel comprising of party-member teachers, student council members, and student representatives from grades 2 to 8. They asked candidates questions and provided comprehensive scoring from various perspectives to ensure a fair, just, and thorough selection process.

“我们发现，当把舞台真正交给孩子时，他们总能创造惊喜。”少先队负责人陈佳敏老师表示，“这次竞选不仅是选拔过程，更是一次生动的公民意识教育实践。”本次竞选全过程让我们看到了，低年级候选人表现尤其亮眼，印证了学校“让学生站在未来中央”教育理念的可行性。他们展现出的同理心与创新思维，让评委们看到了教育的无限可能。

“We found that when the stage is truly handed over to children, they can always create surprises,” said Teacher Chen, the head of the Young Pioneers. “This election is not only a selection process but also a vivid practice of civic awareness education.” The entire election process demonstrated the remarkable performance of the younger candidates, validating the feasibility of the school’s educational philosophy of “putting students at the center of the future.” Their exhibition of empathy and innovative thinking revealed the infinite possibilities of education to the judges.
