From November 11 to 17, 2024, Shenzhen Vanke Bilingual School successfully held the 7th Science and Technology Festival. This year’s festival centered around the theme “Innovating Dreams, Illuminating the Future,” allowing students of different ages and grades to participate in various activities. At the opening ceremony of Technology Week, Teacher Peng Ping led all faculty and students in reviewing the major technological breakthroughs in 2024, including the rapid development of artificial intelligence, innovations in green technology, and remarkable achievements in aerospace. Teacher Peng encouraged the students to not only learn to use technology but also to be brave in creating it, while cultivating critical thinking and enhancing problem-solving skills. 在开幕式的高潮环节,三位科学老师身着实验袍,为同学们呈现了三场引人入胜的科学实验。液氮火山实验中,液氮与热水的混合引发了蒸汽的喷发,场面壮观,同学们目不转睛,惊叹声此起彼伏。火焰掌实验更是让同学们兴奋,老师将手伸入火焰却毫发无损。空气大炮实验则直观展示了空气动力学的奥妙,老师用塑料桶制成的简易装置,通过压缩空气发射烟环,让同学们亲身体验科学实验的乐趣。三位老师与同学们的互动中,耐心解答疑问,详细解释实验原理,不仅丰富了同学们的科学知识,也锻炼了他们的观察力、思考力和动手能力。
During the finale of the opening ceremony, three science teachers dressed in lab coats presented three captivating science experiments to the students. In the liquid nitrogen volcano experiment, the combination of liquid nitrogen and hot water triggered a spectacular eruption of steam, captivating the students and eliciting waves of astonishment. The flaming hand experiment further thrilled the audience as a teacher reached into the flames without sustaining any harm. The air cannon experiment provided a visual demonstration of the principles of aerodynamics, as the teacher utilized a simple device made from a plastic barrel to launch smoke rings using compressed air, allowing students to see up close the joy of scientific experimentation. Throughout the interaction time with the students, the three teachers patiently answered questions and provided detailed explanations of the experiment properties, enriching the students’ scientific knowledge while also enhancing their observation, critical thinking, and practical skills.

The Science Workshop is the highlight of the Science and Technology Festival. On the afternoon of November 11, 14 projects were launched simultaneously, allowing students of different ages to freely explore technology and showcase their skills. In this year’s Science and Technology Festival, the innovation competition was meticulously planned and included a series of projects aimed at cultivating students’innovative thinking and practical skills. The Scratch programming competition was open to students from grades 2 through 6, requiring them to program on the spot based on a given theme, enhancing their logical thinking and programming skills. Students from grades 5 through 8 showcased their creativity in the 3D design competition, brainstorming and designing to strengthen their spatial imagination and innovative capabilities. In the Maker project for grades 7 through 8, students used materials available on-site to create and test their creativity and practical skills. Fun projects like “Egg Drop Challenge,” “Card Tower,” “Toothpick Structures,” and “Paper Boat Weight Test” allowed students to grasp physical principles through engaging hands-on activities that fostered teamwork. Projects such as the homemade KT board airplane distance competition and paper rocket parachute drop competition enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of the mysteries of aerodynamics.
