万双网讯  2024年1月2日，万科双语学校2023-2024第一学期第十九周升旗仪式在学校操场举行。本周升旗仪式由1I班、1G班承担。1G班是一个团结、友爱、自律的班级。1I 班是个温暖的大家庭，24位同学就像 24 颗星星，散发着独特的光芒。

VBS Net News  On January 2, 2024, the flag-raising ceremony for the 19th week of the first semester of 2023-2024 at Vanke Bilingual School was held in the school playground. This week's flag-raising ceremony was undertaken by Class 1I and Class 1G. Class 1G is a united, friendly and self-disciplined class. Class 1I is a warm family, the 24 students are like 24 stars, exuding unique light.

升旗仪式由谭筱曼、朱宇轩主持。姚远和洪婧纾同学做了国旗下讲话。他们演讲的题目是“勿以善小而不为，勿以恶小而为之”。派驻第一书记杨艺娟做了时事热点宣讲。

The flag-raising ceremony was hosted by Tan Xiaoman and Zhu Yuxuan. Yao Yuan and Hong Jingshu delivered speeches under the national flag. The title of their speech was "Don't ignore good deeds because they are small, and don't do evil because they are small." Yang Yijuan, the first secretary gave a lecture on current affairs.

Dear teachers and students,

大家好！

Hello, everyone!

今天我们的演讲主题是“勿以善小而不为，勿以恶小而为之”。

The theme of our speech today is “Don't ignore good deeds because they are small, and don't do evil because they are small.".

这句话是三国时期刘备临死前给他儿子刘禅留下的遗嘱。意思是不要因为善事小而不做，也不要因为坏事小就去做。

This sentence is from The Three Kingdoms period. Liu Bei taught his son to behave like this.  It means don't stop doing a good thing because it's small, and don't do a bad thing even if it's small.

10月3日，在我们深圳的地铁里，有一位建筑工人怕身上的泥土弄脏座椅，主动坐在了地铁角落的地上。

On October 3, in our Shenzhen subway, a worker didn’t want to take the seat for fear that the dirt on his clothes would make the seats dirty.

拍摄者黄先生介绍，自己看到这位大哥坐在地上，问他有空位置为什么不坐，他说身上比较脏，不好意思坐。

Mr. Huang saw this and asked him why he did not sit down. He said he was dirty and embarrassed to sit.

大家为他的高尚品德竖大拇指点赞后，他竟然表演了一个“一字马”，灿烂的笑容打动了众人，网友觉得他是最美的建筑工。

If we can pay attention to the used toothpick after eating in a restaurant, the waiter won’t be hurt by the toothpick, and it can also avoid some cats and dogs being stuck with the toothpick when they are looking for food.

虽然善良可能无法主宰一个人真正的辉煌，但一个人命运的最好形式，一定跟善良有关。人生最美好的情怀和灵魂最高的境界，也一定跟善良有关。

在上周，万双举行了第六场E-talk活动，六位小小演说家分享了各自读过的人物故事：有“为中华之崛起而读书”的周恩来，有《西游记》中个性鲜明的师徒四人，有永不言弃的NBA球星斯蒂芬·库里，有课外书中特别的女生萨哈拉，有“两弹一星”元勋钱学森，有流传千古的唐代诗人，每个人物都有独特的魅力激励着我们成长。万双开设的阅读和演讲课程培养同学们全方位成长，成为学力卓越的时代新人。

Last week, VBS held its sixth E-talk event. Six young speakers shared stories about characters they had read: Zhou Enlai, who "read for the rise of China,"; four distinct masters and apprentices characters in "Journey to the West" ; NBA star Stephen Curry who never gives up; Sahara, a special girl in extracurricular books; Qian Xuesen, the father of "two bombs and one satellite", and a poet from the Tang Dynasty who has been passed down through the ages. Each character has a unique charm that inspires us to grow. The reading and speech courses offered by VBS train students to grow in all aspects and become new people of the era with excellent academic ability.
