万双网讯  2023年12月25日，万科双语学校2023-2024第一学期第十八周升旗仪式在学校操场举行。本周升旗仪式由5E班和5F班承担。5E班是一个乐观活泼、积极进步的班级，5F班是一个积极向上、团结友爱的班级。

升旗仪式由丁子尧、洪欣然主持。肖雨欣、熊梦凡同学做了国旗下讲话。他们演讲的题目是“喜迎元旦 奋进前行”。派驻第一书记杨艺娟做了时事热点宣讲。

1月1日又称元旦。那“元旦”这一节日又包含着什么深意呢?“元”是开始，第一之意;“旦”是早晨，一天的开始。“元旦”又称三元，岁之元，月之元，时之元，就是一年的开始，一年的第一天。

January 1 is also called New Year's Day. So what is the profound meaning of "New Year's Day"  in Chinese ? "Yuan" means the beginning, the first ; "Dan" means morning, the beginning of the day. “Yuandan”is also known as the three yuan, the yuan of year, the yuan of month, and the yuan of time. 旦是象形字,“旦”字下面的一横代表着波涛澎湃的海面，一轮红日正从海上喷薄而出，放射着灿烂辉煌的光芒，这个象形字生动地反映了旭日东升的形象。把“元旦”合在一起，就是要人们以蓬勃的朝气和奋发的斗志来迎接崭新的一年。

Dan is a pictograph character. The line under the character "Dan" represents the turbulent sea. A red sun is erupting from the sea, emitting brilliant light. 12月18号，甘肃临夏州积石山县发生6.2级地震。截至目前，地震已造成甘肃、青海一百多人死亡，近千人受伤，对房屋、基础设施破坏力极大。

On December 18, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake occurred in Jishishan County, Linxia Prefecture, Gansu Province. So far, the earthquake has killed more than 100 people in Gansu and Qinghai, injured nearly a thousand people, and caused great damage to houses and infrastructure.

地震发生后，中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平高度重视并作出重要指示：要全力开展搜救，及时救治受伤人员，尽最大努力保障人民群众生命财产安全。

After the earthquake, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, attached great importance to it and issued important instructions: to carry out search and rescue efforts, treat the injured in a timely manner, and do our best to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

地震之后余震不断，让灾区群众在天寒地冻中提心吊胆。此时一顶帐篷、一件棉衣、一口热汤、一碗热面都是迫切的需要。

Aftershocks continued after the earthquake, leaving people in the disaster area on tenterhooks amid the freezing weather. At this time, a tent, a cotton coat, a hot soup, and a bowl of hot noodles are all urgent needs.

武警官兵、消防大队、解放军、公安部门等救援队伍在零下18度彻夜救援受灾群众，医护人员争分夺秒问诊施救，教育部门妥善安置灾区师生，来自四面八方的志愿者和爱心人士带着米面粮油、取暖设备等基本保障物资，星夜兼程赶来灾区。不断奔赴而来的一颗颗爱心如同一股股暖流在灾区汇聚。

Rescue teams such as armed police officers, fire brigade, People's Liberation Army, and public security departments worked all night at minus 18 degrees Celsius to rescue the victims. Medical staff raced against time to provide diagnosis and rescue. The education department properly resettled teachers and students in the disaster area. Volunteers and caring people from all over brought rice, flour, grain and oil. , heating equipment and other basic supplies, they traveled all night to reach the disaster area. The hearts that keep coming are like warm currents gathering in the disaster area.

航天科技集团紧急调度在轨卫星对灾区进行观测，第一时间提供给国家应急部门、气象中心、水利水电部门等，为应急判断和决策提供支撑。

The Aerospace Science and Technology Group urgently dispatched on-orbit satellites to conduct observations of the disaster area and provided them to national emergency departments, meteorological centers, water conservancy and hydropower departments, etc. immediately to provide support for emergency judgment and decision-making.

Dear students, earthquake disasters not only endanger lives and destroy houses, but also damage infrastructure such as electricity, communications, transportation, and heating. Post-disaster relief work requires close cooperation and continuous hard work from many departments of the country to fight the tough battle in the severe cold.
