万双网讯  2023年10月30日，万科双语学校举办2023-2024第一学期第十周升旗仪式。本周升旗仪式由2G班承担。2G班是一个乐观坚毅、活力热情的班级。

VBS Net News  On October 30, 2023, Vanke Bilingual School held a flag-raising ceremony in the tenth week of the first semester of 2023-2024. This week's flag-raising ceremony was undertaken by Class 2G. Class 2G is an optimistic, gritty, energetic and enthusiastic class.

The flag-raising ceremony was hosted by Li Zhengda and He Sinian from Class 2G. Wang Ziyue and Zhan Minqiao from Class 2G gave speeches under the national flag. The title of their speech was "Reading, Progress and Harmony." The first secretary, Teacher Yang Yijuan, shared hot topics on current affairs.

今天我演讲的主题是——阅读、进步、和谐。

The topic of my speech today is: reading, progress and harmony.

书籍是一片智慧的森林，是一座神圣的殿堂，是一方文明的沃土。它包罗万千、富藏珍宝，使人沉醉其中，留连忘返。

Books are like a forest of wisdom, a holy place of worship, and a fertile land of civilization. In them, we can find a wonderland where countless hidden treasures are waiting to be discovered. We can always find knowledge in books that keeps us interested and, therefore, coming back for more.

无论是阳光灿灿的早晨，还是炊烟袅袅的黄昏；无论是风平浪静的日子，还是雷雨交加的岁月，打开书，我就忘记了一切烦恼，心中充满了喜悦。从而，在知识的琼浆中慢慢成长。

I love to read in the sun on sunny mornings. I love to read under the rosy sky at around sunset. I also love to read on either plain days or days that things don’t go my way. I love reading. As I open a book, all my sadness will be gone and my heart will be filled with joy. Trees grow as they absorb water and nutrition from the soil, and so do I as I learn from books.

阅读使人进步，阅读使人成长，阅读使人明智。下个月是深圳读书月，这是由深圳市政府举办的一项大型读书文化活动，秉承着“营造书香社会、实现市民文化权利”的宗旨，着力于提升市民素质，建设学习型城市。每年都会创办深圳读书论坛等知名阅读活动。深圳读书月已经走进千家万户，成为了城市的文化名片，还获得了“全球全民阅读典范城市”光荣称号。

Reading can help us grow and make us wise. November 1st marks the beginning of Shenzhen Reading Month, a yearly cultural activity that aims to promote and encourage reading and life-long learning citywide. Every year, various reading forums and themed events are held to help build Shenzhen into a learning city. Thanks to its concerted effort, Shenzhen has been recognized as a model learning city by UNESCO.

作为学生的我们，也应当响应号召——我们可以充分地利用学校资源，比如：每天坚持课前阅读；灵活利用教室的图书角；充分利用每周五的阅读活动课、每两周一次的阅读课，以及晚上的亲子阅读时间等等。

北京时间10月26日11时14分，神舟十七号载人飞船在甘肃酒泉卫星发射中心一飞冲天。当天19时34分，神舟十六号航天员乘组顺利打开“家门”，欢迎远道而来的神舟十七号航天员乘组入驻“天宫”。随后，两个航天员乘组拍下“全家福”，共同向全国人民报平安。

At 11:14 on October 26, Beijing time, the Shenzhou 17 manned spacecraft soared into the sky at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Gansu. At 19:34 that day, the Shenzhou 16 astronauts and crew successfully opened the "door" and welcomed the Shenzhou 17 astronauts from afar to settle in the "Tiangong". Later, the two astronaut crews took a "family photo" and jointly reported safety to the people across the country.

不知道同学们有无印象，关于航天主题的时事热点，每学期都讲。因为每隔半年左右，我们的航天员乘组就会进行在轨轮换，确保空间站始终有人值守。神舟十六号乘组在与神舟十七号乘组完成在轨轮换任务后，于10月31日返回东风着陆场。

I don’t know if the students have any impression that hot topics on aerospace topics are taught every semester. Because every six months or so, our astronaut crew will rotate in orbit to ensure that the space station is always manned.The crew of Shenzhou 16 returned to the Dongfeng landing site on October 31 after completing the on-orbit rotation mission with the crew of Shenzhou 17.

有同学知道我国第一位航天员是谁吗？是在哪一年进入太空的呢？那是20年前。2003年，中国“太空第一人”杨利伟进入太空，那是个创造历史的时刻，我国成为继苏联和美国之后第三个利用自身资源将人送入太空的国家。

中国未来将发射与空间站共轨飞行的巡天空间望远镜，还将适时发射扩展舱段，将空间站基本构型由“T”字型升级为“十”字型。

In the future, China will launch a survey space telescope that will fly in the same orbit as the space station. It will also launch an expansion module in due course to upgrade the basic configuration of the space station from a "T" shape to a "cross" shape.

在万双上一届科学家日活动中，有同学很自豪地说，将来的梦想是成为航天员。习近平总书记指出，建设航天强国要靠一代代人接续奋斗。中国航天事业的发展一定会有许多继续发扬载人航天精神的接班人。我们学校的吉祥物万小双，还有人工智能机器人万小超，都是航天员的形象哟。

At VBS’s last Scientist Day event, some students proudly said that their future dream is to become an astronaut. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that building a powerful aerospace country requires continuous struggle from generation to generation.

杨老师这两天读了这一期航天员汤洪波、唐胜杰、江新林的故事，他们克服困难的意志力真的像钢铁一般，非常有感染力。老师把链接附在这一周的报道上，推荐同学们读一读，向航天员汲取勇于创新突破、自立自强、逐梦前行的力量。

I have read the stories of astronauts Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie, and Jiang Xinlin in this issue in the past two days.
