万双网讯  为进一步推动中外文化交流，加强语言环境建设，促进中外居民融合发展，建设国际化街区，12月10日，在由龙华区外事局主办的深圳市龙华区2022外籍人士短视频大赛颁奖典礼在龙华城市客厅圆满举行。万科双语学校外籍教师James荣获二等奖。

VBS Net News  In order to further promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, strengthen the construction of the language environment, promote the integration and development of Chinese and foreign residents, and build an international neighborhood, on December 10, the awarding ceremony of the Short Video Contest for Foreigners in Shenzhen hosted by the Longhua District Foreign Affairs Bureau was successfully held in the living room of Longhua City. James, a foreign teacher from Vanke Bilingual School, won the second prize.

深圳市龙华区2022外籍人士短视频大赛以“我眼中的深圳”为主题，展现外籍友人在深圳的缤纷生活，突出深圳的独特魅力。经过评委公正评审，最终评选出一等奖1名，二等奖3名，三等奖5名，及优秀奖4名。

With the theme of "Shenzhen in my eyes", the short video competition for foreigners in Shenzhen showcases the colorful life of foreign friends in Shenzhen and highlights the unique charm of Shenzhen. After a fair review by the judges, 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and 4 excellence awards were finally selected.

关于参与本次活动的原因——

Why did you participate in this event?

这项活动是“外国人”短视频比赛。活动举办方邀请VBS的老师参加活动，因为他们想要了解到在外国人眼里的深圳，这也是他们将本次活动命名为“我眼中的深圳”的原因。当学校通知我们这件事情的时候，我非常乐意参与此项活动。我已经在深圳生活了三年，我想分享一下我的感受以及我对深圳的看法，VBS一直鼓励我们去参加此类活动，发表我们的想法。2021年我曾和VBS其他三位老师一起参加过短视频比赛并且获得了三等奖，2022年VBS再次邀请我们参加，这一次我更加有动力，最后获得了二等奖。

Whether these events are for foreigner or for Chinese, so one such event was foreigners vlogging competition. For which they invited VBS teachers to participate in. Because they wanted to see how foreigners see Shenzhen from their own Eyes. That’s why they named the vlogging event as “Shenzhen in my Eyes”. So, when our school asked the foreign teachers for the first time, I felt really excited to participate. As I have been living in Shenzhen for more than 3 years, I wanted to share my feelings and view about Shenzhen. VBS always motivated us as foreigners to participate and share our ideas. After that I participated in first vlogging competition back in 2021 and then three of VBS teachers including me in it won the 3rd prize and in 2022 VBS again invited us to participate and this time I was even more motivated than last time and I won 2nd prize.

关于获奖短视频内容及表达的主题——

What’s the content of your video? What topic do you want to express?

正如此项比赛的名字“我眼中的深圳”，我需要做出一个关于深圳技术进步的视频，内容包括“你是如何看到它的进步的？”“它这几年是如何发展的？”作为一位STEM教师，“科技”这一主题与我的教学相关。我制作了一个关于“外国人在中国如何开展与科技相关的产业、如何进步以及如何助力深圳经济发展”的视频。我联系了一位在深圳运营一家机器人公司的朋友，他在三年前开始运营这家公司，目前公司一天生产三千辆电动滑板车还有其他科技产品，这些产品不仅在中国销售，还出口全世界。我想表达的是中国政府不仅给中国人提供做生意的机会，同样也给外国人提供同样的机会，这里欢迎所有人来做投资、研发。

As the name of the competition is “Shenzhen in my Eyes”. So, for that I had been asked to make a vlog about the technology advancement of Shenzhen and “how you see it?” and “how it’s progressing over the years?”. As a teachers of STEAM program, this “technology” based topic was related to my domain. I made a video about how foreigners can do technology-based business in Shenzhen and how they are progressing and are beneficial to Shenzhen economy. I contacted one of my friends who owns a R&D based robotic company in Shenzhen. He started his company 3 years back and now manufacturing 3 thousand electric skateboards and other similar products a day and sell these products not in China only but mostly also export overseas too. The point of view I want to share as foreigner is that government not only helping Chinese in ease of doing business but also, it’s a good place for foreigner too. To come and invest as well do research and development here.

基于这些想法我开始制作视频。在视频中，我呈现了我去探访工厂、工人如何在一天内组装3000辆滑板、我的朋友是如何在短短三年内让自己的产业发展到现在的样子的片段。在那之后，我们拿了一些滑板进行测试并且录制了视频，同时我也告诉了观众在进行此类剧烈运动的时候，安全设备比如头盔是多么的重要。在拍摄期间，我的手腕骨折了，所以我认为我必须强调安全方面的问题。我知道滑板以及其他诸如此类的运动很酷，但忽视安全可能会导致很严重的后果，这是为什么视频中加入了此类片段的原因。正是这个视频让我获得了二等奖。

So based on this idea I started making the video and, in that video, I added my visit to a factory and showed how the workers are assembling 3 thousand skateboards a day and tell the viewers that how at ease my friend started his business and grew it big in just 3 years of time. After that we took some skateboards and started doing testing for video shots and later in the video, I told viewers that why safety equipment’s such as helmets and other things are really important for such extreme sports. Because during the shooting I had a serious accident and my wrist got broken. Due to I have to talk about safety too. I know skate board and things like that are cool and awesome. But neglecting safety leads to any bad situation that how I realized to add the safety part too in the vlog. So with this video content I submitted my entry and won 2nd prize in this competition.

我在2020年来到万科双语学校。最初我任教数学，目前由于我的学术经历，我成为了STEM+教学的外籍教师负责人，同时，我们与中方STEM+教师进行融合备课，共同推进VBS的STEM+课程教学，将创造力和成长型思维融入教学。我与学生相处友好。我一直尝试促进他们在课堂中的参与意愿，通过这样的方式，学生能够养成在解决问题时不放弃的习惯，他们能够通过提问提升自己。

I joined VBS in 2020. Initially I was recruited as a math teacher and due to my studies background recently I have been handed a new opportunity and a title as a head of STEM for foreign teachers and here in the STEM department in collaboration with the Chinese STEM leader we are under the development stage of new STEM curriculum of this school.My relationship with my students in really friendly. I always try to boost their participation will in class so that they can develop a habit of not giving up on any task or problem instead they learn how to improve themselves by asking questions to me.

我来自巴基斯坦。我觉得中国的发展是惊人的。中国在科技、经济、文化乃至其他各方面的发展都非常迅速。我从来没有在任何其他一个国家看到像中国这样做出各项决定的速度及其落实速度。

I come from Pakistan. I think China is Amazing. No wonder why! this country is growing so fast in terms technology, economy, culture, in short everything. The determination and the speed that I have seen in this country haven’t seen anywhere in the world.
