万双网讯   2020年9月1日上午，万科双语学校2020-2021第一学期第一周升旗仪式在学校操场举行。本周升旗仪式由5C班和5D班承担。

VBS News Net: The first week Flag-raising assembly was held on 1st September and it was undertaken by 5C、5D.

新学期，新气象，在庄严的升旗仪式后，杨帆校长上台致辞，她对小初新生和新加入的教师们表示热烈欢迎并向全校师生传达新学期寄语。随后，象棋世界冠军、中国象棋协会副主席吕钦先生为万科双语学校进行授牌（“广东省国际象棋后备人才竞训基地”），本次授牌标志着万科双语学校国际象棋课程进入新征程！

Principal Yang gave an address at this new beginning after the flag-raising assembly. She welcomed new members of VBS community and sent her regards for the new semester before Mr. Lyu Qin, Chinese Chess World Champion and Deputy President of Chinese Chess Association presented 'Young Talent Training Academy for Chess in Guangdong Province'. This brought VBS Chess curriculum to greater heights.

老师们、同学们：

Dear teachers and students,

早上好！真好呀，我们今天能在这里举行升旗仪式！我们可以呼吸到新鲜的空气，可以沐浴清晨的阳光，在校园内还可以不用戴口罩啦！能有这样的生活和环境，要感谢的人很多，就让我们轻轻闭上眼睛，在心里默默说一句，感谢为我们今天能顺利上学付出努力的所有人！

Good morning. It's nice to have normal flag-raising assembly here. We can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine without wearing masks in school. This does not come easy, let's close our eyes and show our appreciation to those who make this possible in our hearts.

我们还要欢迎336位同学和67位老师加入我们的万双大家庭，我们家现在一共有1133人了呢！名副其实的大家庭！

We also welcome 336 new students and 67 new teachers into VBS family, so we have 1133 members. Indeed, we are truly a big family here.

今天咱们家有四位老师和同学过生日，他们是王莉梅老师、2F陈秋钧、 2v李思涵、8E张云棋，祝你们生日快乐！

I'm sure you have seen T-shirts that teachers are wearing. It is for them as well as for you - I have a growth mindset - I can always improve. I do not give up when I get frustrated; I learn from mistakes. I get inspired by successful people. I can learn anything that I want to. My diligence and promises make all things different. I like to challenge myself.

我想告诉你，人的大脑里的脑细胞就像肌肉一样，是可以锻炼的。你越思考，越不怕失败，反复训练，你就会学到任何你想要的东西。在万双，我们要建立成长型的思维模式，就是一种信念，请相信通过坚持、努力和专心致志的学习，我们每个人的智力都会得以成长和发展！请记住，在万双，我们表面是在学习知识、学习技能，其实我们是在学习使用所有人类资源中最最杰出的资源，这个资源就是组成人类普通大脑的1万亿个细胞和数十亿个连结的几乎无限的力量！

I want to tell you, human brains can be improved just like muscles. The more you think, train and are not afraid of failure, you can learn anything. In VBS, we establish growth mindset - a mentality to believe that our IQ can be developed by consistent studies, hard work. Please remember, we are learning skills and knowledge at a glance, but we are learning to use the most incredible resource in human resources - the infinite power to connect billions of cells and their joints.

现在是一个每个人都需要考虑“教育”、“工作”、“家庭”、“人工智能”等等的时代，每个人都想掌握找到好工作、过上好生活的技能，那是什么？怎么获得？如今，中国正在走向伟大的复兴，人民正在为向往的美好生活奋斗。一个国家的财富特点是一个国家的人民技能，学会学习是一切技能的基础。学会学习就是学会思考，学会使用我们的大脑。老师和你们会一起努力的。

Now everyone has to consider 'education', 'work', 'family', 'AI' in this era, everyone wants to master the skills to get a good job and live a good life. What is it? How do we get that? Now China is moving to its great rejuvenation, people are working hard for a prosperous life. One characteristics of a nation's asset is the skill of its people, learning to learn is the foundation of every skill. Learning to learn is learning to think, and use our brains. Teachers are working hard with you all.

这个学期除了同学们最喜欢的丰富多彩的课程学习外，还会有丰富多彩的活动让同学们放松。一个好消息是，这个学期开始，每个同学都能体验到盼望已久的游泳课啦！当然，也少不了考试哟！你有时也会不开心的。别怕，在你有困难、不开心的时候，学会去找老师求助，我们都会是你的朋友、你的支持者！

We offer a variety of curriculum this semester, we also have lots of activities for you to relax. One of the good news is, everyone gets to enjoy the long overdue swimming lessons from this semester onwards. Of course, there will be exams. Sometimes your mood can swing a little bit. Don't be afraid, when you have those moments, learn to seek assistance from teachers, we are your friends and supporters.

在校园里，有很多默默为我们服务的各部门的职员叔叔阿姨们，还有清洁、食堂、安保、维修的叔叔阿姨们，请你见到他们的时候微笑地问一声叔叔好、阿姨好，表达你的感谢。回到家，也请你开心地向爸爸妈妈讲讲学校的事儿，让辛苦了一天的他们不因为不能到学校而为你担心。

In campus, there are many workers from many departments - cleaning, canteen, security and technicians. When you see them, please greet them and show your gratitude. When you get home, please also share your day in school with your parents and not to let them worry about you for not being present in school.

本周，学校为各年级同学们安排了团队建设、帆船体验、野外生存等精彩、甚至有些刺激的活动，请全体同学一定严格遵守教官、教练及老师的指挥，时刻确保自己的安全。只有安全才能体验到快乐！

This week, the school has arranged team-bonding, sailing, outdoor survival challenge activities for you. Please follow instructions from your officers, coaches and teachers to ensure your safety. Safety comes first before you can enjoy.

Dear students, you will have a routine life of coming to school, having classes, activities, meals, noon breaks, after school. Please adjust your clock and study effectively.
