VBS News Net: 'Dear students, may you shine your way to realise your dreams with new perspectives and determined passion at the colorful VBS where love is always around' Youth of the Future from VBS finally had their school begin in early summer on 11th May, after expecting it throughout the spring season. The school specially held the simple but caring welcome back ceremony for 188 VBS Youth of the Future.

这一天，当四、七、八年级的孩子们带着激动的心情，经过测温、手部消毒，重新迈进校园大门时，老师们随即送上了鲜花和卡片。卡片上，写满了对孩子们的祝福，直击孩子们的心窝！孩子们的眼里充满了惊喜，心里荡漾着暖流，校园里充盈着欢声笑语。杨帆校长一如既往，早早来到校门口迎接学生返校。从口罩上方，依然能看到她眼里满满的爱意。她亲切地与孩子们打着招呼。孩子们说，“好想回学校，好想念老师和同学，好想念学校的饭菜……”在这个花香四溢的时节里，孩子们开始了崭新的复学旅程。

After having their body temperature taken and hands sterilised, students from Primary 4, Junior Secondary 1 and 2 were all excited to enter the school gate and received flowers and cards given by their teachers. All wishes written on the card went straight to their hearts. They were all surprised and touched by what was in front of them and started to chit chat again. As always, Principal Yang came early to welcome students for their return at the gate. Looking above her masks, her eyes still filled with lots of love. She had warm greetings with students. Students said, 'I really miss the school, teachers, peers and the food from canteen,' and began their brand new school term.

为了这一天，市区领导多次督促指导，区教育局委派卫生健康副校长、驻点医生，为师生提供专业服务；学校制订应急预案，购买防疫物资助，开展多次应急演练；全体教职员工参加防疫培训，校园一遍遍进行消毒、清洁；所有老师们全力以赴，线上教研，云端上课，整理教室……所谓的岁月静好，只是因为有人在负重前行。

This day would not be possible without guidance by leaders from the district and municipality, the appointment of Deputy Principal for Health and stationed doctor by Longhua District Education Bureau who provide professional services for the school, the school's  purchase of materials, drafting of contingency plan and its dry-runs, staff's participation in epidemic prevention and control workshop and tireless disinfection, all teachers who put in effort to prepare lessons and conduct E-learning online and clean the classrooms. The peace that we have is maintained by those guardians who dedicate themselves in silence.

这一天，将成为孩子们生命中最重要的记忆。在这个充满未知的世界中，愿VBS的孩子们加倍珍惜来之不易的学习时光，永葆乐观、坚毅的特质，充满好奇心和创造力，勇敢地面对困难，自信地站在未来中央！

This day would be a crucial part of students' memories. In this world filled with unknowns, may VBS students cherish the study periods which did not come easy and keep their optimism, grit, curiosity and creativity to face challenges with courage and the future ahead of them with confidence.

亲爱的全体教职员工、亲爱的同学们：

早上好！

今天，第一批四、七、八年级同学能顺利返校，真的不容易，我们需要心怀感激！整个国家，习主席领导的党和政府，不忘初心，不辱使命，一心为民，英明果断，大气担当，保卫人民，发展国家；每一个中国人以强烈的爱国精神和责任意识，积极履行国家的防护要求，保护自己，保护他人；医务工作者和各行各业参与抗疫的人们，不怕死、不怕累，用生命和汗水，筑起了一道道屏障，挡在肆虐的病毒前，保护了我们每个人。他们的精神可歌可泣，值得我们永远铭记。

这一周，已经是学校保安、清洁、食堂、维修等各部门叔叔阿姨坚守的第18周了。126天，他们一如既往，默默守护和维护，才有了今天大家看到的整洁、安全的校园；还有学校疫情防控工作小组的领导、以及人力、行政、总务各部门的老师们，及时指导、及时宣传，制定各种方案引领全体家长、同学、老师一起抗疫；还有从2月下旬开始就一直陪伴同学们学习、安慰同学们情绪的科任老师们，他们一边照顾家人，一边精心备课，付出了比平常更多的努力去陪伴和爱护同学们；还有同学们和你们的家人，你们尽力改变学习方式，努力适应居家隔离生活，你们的家人全心照顾你们，有的家长早就开始工作了，他们在为国家奉献的同时也在守护着你们……

要感谢的人很多，对于他们和自己，最好的感谢，就是我们一起努力保护好自己，做好我们的学习和工作。

其次，我想告诉同学们，校园是安全的。校园每天会多次消毒，教室、午休室已经拉开间距一米以上，请同学们按要求入校和进行学习，做到勤洗手。我们在校门口、教室、卫生间等处都配备了免洗消毒洗手液。具体的按照今天第一节课班主任、生活老师的要求去做。特别提醒，如果你在家就发烧了，就请不要到校，并请你们的爸爸妈妈及时向班主任请假。如果校内有同学发烧，请不要惊慌，按照老师的要求做。

我还想谈谈病毒。病毒：它是单核细胞生物，早在几十亿年前就有了，比我们人类早。我们一起快速回忆一下：宇宙出现大约2亿年以后，第一批恒星产生，比如太阳，恒星能产生新物质，使宇宙进一步变复杂；恒星爆炸，产生超新星；距今大约35亿年前，也就是地球诞生10亿年之内，地球上的一些化合物中的一部分形成了地球上第一批生物，它们微小、简单，是单细胞的生物——原核生物，病毒就是属于这种生物；距今2000万年前，一部分灵长类动物（早期形态的猿）开始更多生活在地面上；人类祖先“露西”居住在距今约300万年前的非洲埃塞俄比亚一带。距今200万年前，非洲东部出现了另一类物种，我们称之为“智人”或“能人”。这样一看，我们就知道了，病毒那样的单细胞生物一直都有，比我们来到这个世界早多了。而这次疫情，我们再次感受它的厉害，我们可以通过研究更好地控制它，不让它危害我们。我们有钟南山、李兰娟、邱海波院士，专业、有担当，是我们学习的榜样。希望同学们学好本领，科学战胜病毒和其他灾害，为人类发展做贡献。

Dear all staff and students,

Good morning!

It is not easy for the first batch of students - Primary 4, Junior Secondary 1 and 2 levels to return to school today. We have to be grateful as the whole country, led by President Xi and its party and government, not leaving its duty and original intention behind to protect its people with responsibility and resolution. Every Chinese has the strong responsibility and patriotism to follow what the state asked them to do - protect others and themselves. Doctors and professionals from various industries who dedicated themselves in the work against the outbreak had kept us safe. Their spirits and greatness deserved our remembrance and praise.

It has been the 18th week for uncles and aunts from security, cleaning, maintenance and canteen crew to work in school. They have been here for the past 126 days to keep the campus running and clean, also the members from VBS epidemic prevention and control group, teachers from HR, Administration and General Affairs Departments to make plans for parents, teachers and students to work together against the outbreak by direction and publicity. Also those teachers who calmed you down and spent time with you to study while they worked extra hard to take care of their family and make lesson plans. And you guys trying your best to change your study mode into study from home and your parents who took care of you well, some even dedicated themselves to the country.

We can think of many people whom we need to acknowledge. But we have to focus on ourselves to do our best and protect ourselves. This is the best way to show our appreciation for them and us.

Next, I would like to tell you that the campus is safe. Disinfection is done several times a day. Classrooms and siesta rooms are set to keep you all one metre apart, so please wash your hands frequently as you follow rules to enter the school and study. We have put hand sanitisers at the gate, classrooms and washrooms, please follow what class teachers and life teachers tell you to do. I have to remind you that do not come to school if you have fever at home and ask your parents to inform your class teachers for sick absence. Do not panic if you find your peers having fever in school, do what your teachers say.

Now life teachers and class teachers please demonstrate if you find out one student having anomalous body temperature as you take their body temperatures.

Thank you teachers and students for your cooperation. Students, it is typical for you to experience agitations, exhaustions or mood swings. Now if you do have this, please seek assistance from your class teachers or other teachers, we could offer some help.

Now I would like to talk about the virus. It is a non-cellular agent which it has existed since billions of years ago, even earlier than ours. Let's take a quick recap, the first batch of fixed stars was formed 200 millions years after the existence of the universe such as the Sun. Fixed stars could produce new materials to complicate it. The explosion of fixed stars would then form supernovas. Compounds on Earth formed the first batch of organisms approximately three and half billion years ago, also one billion years after the Earth had been formed. They were simple and minute, had mono Two million years ago, Homo Sapien came to life in East Africa. So we know that virus is always around and comes much earlier than us. We see its power this time but we can control it by our research by not allowing it to endanger us. We have academicians such as Dr. Zhong Nanshan, Dr. Li Lanjuan, Dr. Qiu Haibo who are our role models. I hope you guys can study well and contribute to the humankind by beating the virus.

Gu Xiancheng from Donglong Party in Ming Dynasty drafted the couplet - I hope you can cultivate your patriotism in your studies. You have to love your family before becoming patriotic which comes before loving the world. China is a country that acts more than it says. China and its nationals have handled the crisis well to send materials and experts overseas as a great nation. Every one of you have to remember by heart that you will be the master of the country and the world.

This has been a special term. I wish all of you to adjust yourselves mentally and physically as you acclimatise, study and live to reassure your parents. This gift is prepared by the school which you can show the flowers to your moms. Please show your appreciation to teachers and parents.
