夏日芳菲好，读书正当时。漫步校园，火红的凤凰花、金黄的太阳花，迎风招摇。最美的还是随处可见的热爱阅读的身影，到处都洋溢着书香的味道。2022年5月，以“书香为伴 阅见成长”为主题的VBS读书月“最美小书童”评选系列活动拉开了帷幕。

Summer is a perfect time for reading. Walking around the campus, flaming phoenix flowers and golden sunflowers are fluttering in the wind. What the most beautiful is the ubiquitous figure immersed in reading, which is filled with the smell of books. In May 2022, there were a series of activities called “The Best Reader” in VBS reading month with the theme of “Reading With the Fragrance of Books is a Witness of Growth”.

With Books 

“课外阅读”是万双的特色，老师们利用早读、课前、晚自习、阅读课的时间培养孩子们的读书习惯。《我不是小屁孩》、《上学是一场最大的冒险》、《一年级大个子二年级小个子》、《我和小姐姐克拉拉》、《童年河》、《我是一只狐狸狗》、《奇迹男孩》、《西游记》……一本又一本好书吸引着孩子们，让孩子们沉浸在快乐阅读的氛围中。

Extracurricular reading is the characteristic of VBS. Teachers use the time of morning reading, pre-class period, night class and reading class to cultivate students’ reading habits. There are so many nice books, such as “I'm Not a Kid”, “Going to School is the Biggest Adventure”, “Big Boy in Grade One, Little Boy in Grade Two”, “Me and My Little Sister Clara”, “Childhood River”, “I'm a Fox Dog”, “Miracle Boy”, “Journey to the West” and so on, which attract students and immerse them in a happy reading atmosphere.

二年级组开展“整本书阅读交流”进课堂。老师们利用好书推荐课，向孩子们推荐了《查理和巧克力工厂》。下课时，孩子们手不释卷，乐在其中。两周后的阅读交流课上，孩子们模仿罗尔德·达尔的笔法，替威利旺卡又发明了好多新奇的巧克力糖果。

Students from Grade 2 carried out “reading and communication of the whole book” into the classroom. Teachers recommended “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” to students by using the good book recommendation class. Even till the end of class, students couldn't stop reading. Two weeks later, in the reading communication class, students imitated Roald Dahl's handwriting and invented a lot of chocolate candy for Willy Wonka.

When children are immersed in the fragrance of books and words, they will know the author from a book and read a series of his books. The following is a screenshot of Wang Jiaqi's mother from Class 2C posted in WeChat.

良好的家庭阅读氛围和环境，是孩子阅读的基础保障。VBS倡导每个家庭开展“亲子阅读”活动，并用镜头记录下亲子阅读的温馨瞬间，以及阅读过程中的收获与感悟。

Good family reading atmosphere and environment are the basic guarantee for children's reading. VBS advocates every family to carry out “parent-child reading” activities, and use the camera to record the warm moments of parent-child reading, as well as the harvest and perception in the reading process.

读演并行——“最美小书童”决赛

Parallel Reading and Performance - "The Best Reader" Finals

本次活动由小学1-5学段语文组精心策划。老师们利用早读、午间分享的时间，在各班开展诗文诵读、童谣传唱、故事大会、好书推荐、续编故事、自创故事等分享活动，为每一个孩子创造分享展示的机会，最终投票选出一位同学参加年级组比赛。5月5号、6号、10号、11日，学校分别进行了一至五年级的“最美小书童”决赛。

The activity was well planned by the Chinese Group from Grade 1 to Grade 5. Teachers took advantage of the time of morning reading and afternoon sharing to carry out sharing activities in each class, such as poetry reading, nursery rhyme singing, story conference, good book recommendation, continued story, self-created story ect., so as to create opportunities for each child to share and display. Finally, they voted to elect a student to participate in the Grade Group Competition. On May 5th, 6th, 10th and 11th, VBS held the finals of "The Best Reader" from Grade 1 to Grade 5 respectively.

“小书童”们准备充分，信心十足，落落大方的姿态令人眼前一亮。他们或激情澎湃，或温润有情，或沉稳深邃，各展其能，发挥所长，从不同角度演绎阅读书籍后带来的快乐和力量。选手们积极向上的精神面貌，深深地打动了聆听比赛的同学们，台上高潮迭起，场下掌声不断。

"Little readers" were well prepared, confident and generous. They were passionate, gentle and affectionate, calm and profound. They showed their abilities and strengths, and deduced the happiness and power brought by reading books from different angles. The positive spirit of the contestants deeply moved the students who listened to the competition. There were many climaxes on the stage and continuous applause.

经过激烈角逐，1I班芮楚歆、2F班张羽墨、3V班齐梓妍、4D班张正昕荣获“最美小书童”特等奖。杨帆校长、郑世英校长助理等为孩子们颁发了奖状。

After the excellent and fierce competition, Rui Chuxin from Class 1I, Zhang Yumo from Class 2F, Qi Ziyan from Class 3V and Zhang Zhengxin from Class 4D won the top prize of "The Best Reader”. Principal Yang Fan and Assistant Principal Zheng Shiying presented certificates of honor to them.

书籍,是人类文明和智慧的结晶。本次VBS读书月“最美小书童”评选系列活动对于涵养学生的阅读素养，营造和谐的亲子关系，开拓学生视野，形成良好的道德品格和健全的人格具有深远意义。

Books are the crystallization of human civilization and wisdom. "The Best     Reader" series activities in VBS reading month are of profound significance for cultivating students' reading literacy, creating a harmonious parent-child relationship, expanding students' vision, and forming good moral character and sound personality.
