万双网讯 11月18日,在龙华区首届国际素养辩论大赛半决赛中,万科双语学校初中英语辩论队斩获初中组二等奖,名列龙华区第五名。
VBS News Net: VBS English Debate Team was ranked fifth in Longhua District to win Second Prize in Longhua District first international literacy debate contest semifinal on 18th November.
VBS初中英语辩论队由8名成员组成,他们是胡嘉芮、孙可儿、黄可怡、刘亦然、赖俊宏、张诗雨、张云祺、张珂旋。辩论队在接到初赛的辩题“科技发展对于解决全球气候变暖问题利大于弊”之后,积极搜索资料,认真准备开篇立论和结辩环节,并在英语组老师们的指导下开展了几次模拟辩论,把正反双方的观点都详细地罗列出来,为初赛做好了最充分的准备。
VBS English Debate Team had eight members - Hu Jiarui, Sun Keer, Huang Keyi, Liu Yiran, Lai Junhong, Zhang Shiyu, Zhang Yunqi and Zhang Kexuan. Once the topic 'Do advantages in development in science and technology outweigh the disadvantages in solving global warming' was released, they began to do research and prepare for opening and closing arguments before doing several dry runs led by English teachers. They listed viewpoints from both sides to prepare well for the preliminary round.
在初赛赛场上,同学们以良好的团队合作意识以及流利的口语表达能力顺利从初中组24支队伍中脱颖而出,进入半决赛。半决赛只有一周左右的准备时间,同学们在完成学校的学习任务同时,积极、高效备赛,辩论场上以更有说服力的论据和出色的发挥给评委们留下了深刻的印象,最终斩获初中组二等奖。
They qualified for the semifinal by excellent teamwork and oral presentation skills in the preliminary round. They only had one week to prepare for the semifinal whilst they had to finish their studies in school. With effective time management skills, they pointed out valid arguments at semifinal to win Second Prize.
本次活动锻炼了VBS学子的口语表达能力、思辩能力,拓宽了同学们对环保、能源、科技等国际性议题的认知,培养了辩论队员们的团队合作精神和竞争意识,展现了同学们良好的精神风貌,激励着VBS学子不断提高自己英语水平,从参赛过程中获得的宝贵经验也为下一届辩论赛取得更优秀的成绩奠定了坚实的基础。
This activity has increased VBS students knowledge in the international setting - environmental conservation, energy, science & technology. Their ability to make oral presentation and analyse is improved with their teamwork and awareness to compete. Students are also motivated to improve their English level while presenting themselves well in front of judges. This experience will be valuable for preparations on their future debate contests.

黄可怡:很荣幸,也很幸运能够再次代表学校参加这次模拟联合国的辩论比赛。我总是希望能够为班级还有学校增光添彩,所以这次的压力还挺大的。从预赛的准备到上场,虽说有去年比赛的些许经验,可对我来说最难的“气势”,总是不如他人。我反复的背稿子,每次都尝试把眼神变得更加凶狠,以此来震慑对手。很开心,我想我的眼神和气势在正式比赛时起作用了,我们成功的进入了半决赛。其实不仅仅要感谢自己的努力,更要感谢的是老师和队员们对我一直以来的鼓励与信任。想必没有你们,我们也一定不会迎来这次历史性的突破。这次比赛带给我的不只有英语方面的提升,更是一次难忘的经历,令我珍藏。
Huang Keyi: It is an honour to represent VBS again for this debate. I always hope to win honours for my class and school so I feel some pressure this time. Despite having the experience last year, I still feel that controlling the momentum is the hardest. With memorising the arguments, I try to be aggressive to have the momentum of the debate in my hand. I think it has worked as we make it to semifinal. I would like to thank teachers and teammates who have trusted and encouraged me. Without you all we won't have this breakthrough. This experience means more than just an improvement in English but a memorable one to me.
胡嘉芮:在本次比赛中,我收获颇丰。通过初赛和半决赛的准备工作,我了解到了各种关于环境与能源的科学文化知识,增强了环保的意识,也扩充了词汇量。通过激烈的比赛,我的英语能力有较大提升,也培养了团队合作精神和竞争精神。我觉很能够在初中时期参加这种正式的比赛对我来说是有极大意义的。如果有机会,我希望能够多参加类似比赛。
Hu Jiarui - I have learned a lot from this contest. I know more about energy, environmental conservation and expand my vocabulary bank from the preparation in the preliminary and semifinal. I improve my competitive spirits, English skills and teamwork. It means a lot to me to take part in this contest and I would like to have more such contests in future if possible.
孙可儿:本次比赛提高了我的英文水平,收集资料时,我扩大了专业领域的知识面。比赛很紧张,开篇立论环节我展现了表现力,而自由辩论部分锻炼了我的应变能力。比这些更加珍贵的,是我们学到的团队合作精神。比赛结束后,我们与对方辩友握手并合影,气氛融洽。本次比赛给我的初中生活添加了一笔独特的色彩。
Sun Keer - I have improved my English through this contest. I know more about those topics by research. It has been an intense contest but I show my skills at the opening speech and improvise during the free debate session. The more important thing is teamwork that we learn. After the contest, we shake hands with the other team in peace. This experience has enriched my junior secondary school studies.
刘亦然:这次辩论赛给我的收获不只是锻练口语的机会,更是一些关于人类的未来的感悟。两个辩题都与环境问题有关。在我查找资料和整理观点的过程中,我发现目前人类处在一个两难的困境中:一方面,人们必须在2050年前做到零碳排放,另一方面如果完全颠覆石化能源,会对经济产生很大的打击。这次辩论赛让我开始关注全球气候变暖、新能源这类我以前很少关注的环保问题,拓宽了我的知识面,让我能够用更广阔的国际视野去迎接未来世界的挑战。
Liu Yiran - This debate has given me more than a chance to practise my English oral - about mankind in future as well. Two topics are related to environmental issues. As I do my research and viewpoints, I find out that we are in the dilemma - we have to achieve zero carbon emission by 2050 whereas there will be severe economic impact if we abandon fossil fuels. It makes me focus on global warming and renewable energy which I barely know about. I will embrace the challenge from the future with broad international horizons and knowledge base.
