VBS News Net: The 6th week flag-raising assembly was held on 9th October. It was undertaken by 8D.

升旗仪式由8D班王乐涵、刘振和主持。陈思帆、李昶瑜做了演讲。他们演讲的题目是《践行社会主义核心价值观，争做积极向上的好学生》。

Wang Lehan and Liu Zhenhe co-hosted the assembly. Chen Sifan and Li Changyu made the speech 'practise socialist core values and strive to be positive and well-behaved students'.

尊敬的各位领导、老师们，亲爱的同学们：

大家早上好！

Dear distinguished leaders, teachers, and dear students:

Good morning!

今天我们演讲的主题是：践行社会主义核心价值观，争做积极向上的好学生。

The topic of my speech today is: Practice the core values of socialism, strive to be positive and well-behaved students.

党的十八大提出了社会主义核心价值观，同学们知道是哪24个字吗？

富强、民主、文明、和谐是国家层面的价值目标，自由、平等、公正、法治是社会层面的价值取向，爱国、敬业、诚信、友善是公民个人层面的价值准则，这24个字是社会主义核心价值观的基本内容。

The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward new requirements for the core values of socialism, advocating "prosperity, democracy, civilization, harmony, freedom, equality, justice, rule of law, patriotism, dedication, honesty, and friendliness".

一个国家，要持续健康发展。除了要有物质基础，还要有凝聚共识、团结力量的核心价值观。价值观作为一种思想观念的东西，重在学习，重在内化，重在践行。

To sustainably and healthily develop the country, apart from having a material foundation, we should also hold the core values of building consensus and uniting forces. We can achieve it by learning, internalization and practice.

如何让社会主义核心价值观更好的在社会中产生更大的积极影响，关键在从我做起。

How to make the core values of socialism positively influence the society, the key is to do it start from me.

从我做起，前提是知。所谓知，即熟知社会主义核心价值观的内涵与意义。

Firstly, we should know the connotation and significance of the core values of socialism.

知内涵，不是略懂一二，而是熟透于心。差不多先生，要不得，流于表面往往导致行动力不足。知内涵，要从国家、社会、个人层面去深层次挖掘核心价值观蕴藏的本质内涵和外延价值；知意义，才有干劲去学、做。

To know the connotation, we should understand the essential connotation of the core values from the national, social and individual aspects; only when we know the meaning, can we have the energy to learn and do.

从我做起，重点在做。在知的基础上，能认同核心价值观，内化为自身的价值观、人生观，并能转化为规范自身言行举止、指导实践的精神源泉。

Secondly, on the basis of knowledge, we should identify with the core values and internalize them into our own values and outlook on life, regulate our own words and behaviors.

做，首先体现在生活中。生活中一言一行，以核心价值观为准绳，严格规范自身言行。在家庭、学校生活中和公共场合不做违背价值观的事情。

With the guidance of the core values, we must strictly regulate our own words and deeds. Don't do things that violate values in family, school life and public places.

身为学生，我们不要认为“践行社会主义核心价值观”离我们太过遥远。实际上，它处处体现在我们身边的小事中。我们每一个人时时刻刻都在与社会主义核心价值观发生联系，每个人的举手投足都在践行着社会主义核心价值观。

As students, we shouldn’t think that "Practicing Socialist Core Values" is too far away from us. In fact, they are reflected in the small things around us. We are connected to them every single day and our actions reflect our practice of them.

即使我们现在不能做到全部，但我们应把最基本的文明、礼貌、诚信、友善做到最好！争做一名积极向上的好学生！

Even if we can't do it all now, we should be civilized, polite, honest and friendly, and strive to be a positive and well-behaved student.

最后，用习爷爷曾说的一段话结束今天的演讲：“中华文明绵延数千年，有其独特的价值体系，我们提倡和弘扬社会主义核心价值观，必须从中汲取丰富营养，否则就不会有生命力和影响力。

Finally, I would like to conclude today's speech with a sentence that President Xi once said: " With the long history and the unique value system, we must promote and carry forward the core values of socialism. “

要在全社会牢固树立社会主义核心价值观，全体人民一起努力，通过持之以恒的奋斗，把我们的国家建设得更加富强、更加民主、更加文明、更加和谐、更加美丽，让中华民族以更加自信、更加自强的姿态屹立于世界民族之林。”

We should firmly establish the socialist core values in the whole society. All the people will work together to make our country more prosperous, stronger, more democratic, more civilized, more harmonious and more beautiful to make our nation stand strong among the world.
