VBS News Net: Shenzhen Education Bureau plans to select schools with outstanding performance in language work and award the Shenzhen language demonstration school title. After school application, district-level recommendation, expert review, and comprehensive selection, Shenzhen Education Bureau selected and presented the list of demonstration schools. VBS was selected as one of the seven schools in the Longhua District.




In the three years since the establishment of VBS, the Chinese classes have been making progress under the professional guidance and demonstration of Principal Yang and have made gratifying achievements. In the school language standardization activities, the school has focused on the following aspects.

All teachers and students of the school are required to speak Mandarin in teaching, meetings, and activities, creating an environment for speaking Mandarin.

VBS creates diversified learning platforms to improve teachers' Mandarin. Teachers are required to use standard Mandarin in class. Chinese teachers read a book during teaching and research time to improve their language ability in the evaluation.

 

 

The school strengthens the writing of standard words and regularly holds calligraphy competitions. Teachers' blackboard writing and handwritten lesson plans are required to be written in standard Chinese characters.


 

There are strict requirements for students' Mandarin and standard characters.











 

Students are required to use Mandarin in their classes and communication. If there is no distinction between nasal and lateral sounds, front and rear nasal sounds, the teacher will correct them in time.

VBS gives systematic and professional guidance to students in writing. They practice standard handwriting three times a week.

3. Carry out a series of activities related to Mandarin.


 

Each class has a reading corner to store books that students are interested in, and students can borrow them at any time.









There is a reading class per week for students to read excellent books. The first 5-10 minutes of each Chinese class are for teachers to read aloud, which has become one of the routines and characteristics of VBS Chinese class. The first 30 minutes of evening self-study in Grade 1 and Grade 1 are reading time. Teachers read books for students to ensure students' input of excellent words.









 

At the morning self-study, the students read the nationally designated teaching materials and the Sinology books compiled by VBS to improve their sense of language and accumulate excellent traditional culture.




 

Carry out reading sharing and speech activities


 

During the fruit meal, each class will hold class lectures. Students read and share. Teachers pay attention to cultivating students' ability to express fluently and accurately in Mandarin.










 

VBS carries out the activity of ‘I love reading.’ The lower grades match original poems with paintings. The middle and upper grades make book recommendation cards and conduct the recitation contest of original poems or articles to cultivate their recitation ability.


 

Grade 1 and Grade 2 will publish a collection of original poems of the class every semester. The middle and high grades will publish at least one class composition journal every month to improve their interest and written expression ability.















 

In the final activity week, E-talks will be carried out with the participation of all students to improve students' ability to make impromptu speeches in standard Mandarin.

 


In addition, teachers and students of the school participated in various municipal and district level competitions and won the excellent organization award many times. VBS attaches great importance to the standardized teaching of language and characters, promotes the teaching of Chinese Pinyin, strengthens the teaching of literacy, oral communication, reading, and writing, pays attention to the comprehensive use of language and characters, improves the listening, speaking, reading and writing ability of primary and middle school students, creates a good cultural atmosphere for the inheritance of Chinese traditional culture, and makes efforts to enhance national cohesion.
