VBS News Net: In order to improve the professional quality of teachers, enhance team cohesion and shape innovative teachers, Vanke Bilingual School has carried out a series of teacher training activities from 24th to 27th of August. These training activities have clearly defined the direction and orientation of all teachers in an all-round way, laying a foundation for the innovative development of the school.

The goal - to create an education that is more fit for the future

On August 24th, all the faculty and staff gathered in the school theater, and Principal Yang gave a detailed interpretation of the school philosophy, training objectives and curriculum of the school with the theme of ‘let our children experience the future.’

Starting from artificial intelligence technology, Principal Yang took the foundation of Stanford HAI Institute as an example to arouse people's thinking on education: Technology is reshaping society in a faster and more profound way than ever before, and a large number of professions are gradually being replaced. As educators, how should we face it? For AI, HAI Institute proposes, ‘make technology more human.’ While for modern education, it should be ‘make education return to humanity and its essence.’

Given this premise， Principal Yang analyzed the challenges education is facing now. "Facing an unpredictable future, we must think big and re-imagine education. Therefore, we have determined the cultivation (growth) goal of VBS -- to nurture Chinese citizens who possess healthy bodys, sound personality, academic excellence, international horizons, patriotism and the courage to create a better future.

To achieve this goal, VBS has added school-based compulsory courses to the national curriculum. At the same time, VBS deeply realized that the growth of children needs the joint efforts of students, teachers and parents. The establishment of "Parent Growth Academy", "Teacher Career Development Academy" and "Parent-teacher Association" make the school become a place for students, teachers and parents to grow together. Under such a perfect curriculum system, students in VBS can "live with ease in body and mind, try without fear, and look forward with fantasy."

Principal Yang emphasized: "The future is changing rapidly. If we want our children to experience the future, we should look at education from a new perspective. Let's create an education that is more suitable for the future and meet the children's beautiful future with creation!"

Go our own way——The three-year school planning & work arrangement of the new semester

On 27th August, VBS work meeting for the new semester was held in the theater. Principal Yang gave a speech titled “Go our own way” to introduce the three-year school planning and the work arrangement for the new semester, which points out the direction for the all school faculty and staff.

At the meeting, Principal Yang presented the national education policies released from January to July, and clarified the education goal of "achieving the healthy development and three-dimensional growth of students". This goal coincides with the educational objectives that VBS has been implementing. Under this new situation, she proposed: educators should view education from the perspective of "future wisdom", establish a growth mindset, and achieve differentiated and responsive classrooms that teach students in accordance with their aptitude. At the same time, it is necessary for educators, parents and students to work together to construct a campus with growth thinking mode. Schools should be places where students, teachers and parents grow together.

In the face of new technologies and new situations, VBS has a vision of "Let our children experience the future", adhering to the educational philosophy of "teaching for the unknown and learning for the future". VBS has established a future-oriented training (growth) goal and set up future-oriented curriculum and classes. In order to encourage the learning and growth of faculty and staff, the school has formulated the " Manual for Career Development College" and the "Teacher Independent Development Reward Program", which has greatly encouraged all faculty and staff. Facing the future——VBS Olympic Carnival 

Rush on the sports field like an Olympic champion! On August 26th, the VBS campus was filled with the laughter of more than 200 employees of the school. "Facing the Future, Have Love in Depth" ——VBS Olympic Carnival was held in the indoor basketball hall.

On that day, the faculty and staff of the school were divided into 8 groups. Under the leadership of the group leader, group competitions and team competitions were completed. Working together as a team, everyone took part in aerobics, dry-field curling, balance challenge, fun sports meeting and other activities.

In this semester, the number of faculty and staff of VBS continues to grow, and the total number of faculty members has reached 244. Filled with fun and interesting activities, this Olympic Carnival fully stimulated the spirit of cooperation and exploration. It plays an important role in enhancing team cohesion and building a united, dedicated, efficient and high-quality team.

Exchanging thoughts——Accumulate the power to achieve educational dreams on the way

On August 26th, VBS Teachers' Career Development College held a meeting to summarize the study tour in this summer vacation. Teacher representatives from 16 groups shared their thoughts on the study tour. VBS established the Teacher Career Development College in August 2020. The educational expert Li Zhenxi and Principal Yang jointly unveiled the college. Since then, all school faculty and staff have started self-development study and activities. During the summer vacation, with the strong support of the school, each group traveled to various parts of the country for study tours. The teachers accumulated the power to achieve educational dreams on their way.
