VBS held Open Day for Primary School parents

VBS News Net: What is a differentiated and responsive class? How does VBS achieve the goals? From March 2 to 5, VBS held Open Day for Primary School parents. Nearly a thousand parents participated in this event. They went deep into the classrooms, experienced the curriculum, witnessed their children's growth, communicated with the teachers, and had a deeper understanding of the school's philosophy.

 









 

In the theater, lead teachers and subject teachers explained the curriculum to the parents. They introduced the learning content, learning methods, teaching materials, subject characteristics, evaluation method, and learning goals of each subject in detail.

The Chinese classes emphasize reading, speech, and writing skills. Students can speak and write through our reading classes and the VBS speech platform. Our diverse elective courses, lectures, class meetings, and practical activities make children full of love and curiosity about the world.


 




 

Math focuses on developing students' sense of number, symbol awareness, spatial concepts, geometric intuition, data analysis, calculation ability, reasoning ability, model thinking, application awareness, and innovation awareness.


 




  

English attaches great importance to students' pronunciation and language sense, which helps them learn to read in English and develop good study habits. VBS also provide students with western cultural experience, theme activities, Model United Nations, drama performances, speeches, talent shows, and debate competitions to cultivate students’ international perspective.

 





 

Courses taught by foreign teachers are immersion and mother-tongue teaching, with equal emphasis on English language ability and literacy. Foreign teachers use various teaching methods to provide a knowledge foundation and flexible language skills for students who will go to high school in China and help students who will study abroad to have an excellent global vision and international thinking ability.

VBS strives to create differentiated and responsive classes that teach students by their aptitude. Teachers use process evaluation and summative evaluation as final results, which mobilizes children's internal drive for learning. It makes them grow into Chinese citizens who possess sound personalities, academic excellence, international horizons, patriotism, and the courage to create a better future.


 






 

After the course introduction, all classrooms were open to parents. Parents tried to guess word puzzles with their children in Chinese class. In math class, children were teachers of their own. In English class, children could answer questions fluently in English. In life planning class, parents experienced all kinds of emotions with their children. In the artificial intelligence class, they were surprised by the children’s programming ability. In the architecture class, they watched their children create ingenious works. In the history class, children listened to historical stories carefully. In the PE class, children followed the instructions of the foreign teacher and had a great time. In the music class, they sang with the children.


 






































































































































































































 

The class teachers, subject teachers, and life teachers gave a comprehensive introduction to the parents on this semester's class activities and life management. The teachers expressed gratitude to the parents for their trust.


 
















































 

After the open day, parents said that through this experience, they had a new understanding of the VBS's teaching and were full of expectations for their children’s future, which gave VBS Highly praised.

 













 

In the past three years since the school's establishment, VBS has been running a school with an open attitude and continually improving the school level.
