VBS News Net: The prolonged winter break finally ended and school term would begin as the summer came. All VBS staff began their regular working pattern on 6th and 7th May onwards. The preparation work was carried out in order under the guidance of Longhua District Education Bureau senior members to ensure health of staff and students by providing the best of service and welcome VBS youth of the future for their return.

Start work with warm regards

Teachers were busy conducting E-learning lessons at respective classrooms whereas cleaners, other teachers and life teachers did a thorough cleaning on corridors, dorm rooms and other classrooms. All staff were grateful of receiving regards and Chinese New Year red packets to start work from Principal Yang. They shined their ways over here as they put in effort in their work. 

Leaders' Inspection

Deputy Bureau Chief of Longhua District Education Bureau Mr. Duan Xianqing led a four-person team to conduct onsite inspection prior to school commencement, particularly the work against coronavirus. Accompanied by Principal Yang, Mr. Lucas Lin and Mr. Kane Zhang, Mr. Duan walked every corner of the campus from basement to 6th floor, including classrooms, dorm rooms and vincinity. They also carefully examined contingency plan, students' entry routes, parents , temperature taking at entrance, stock piling of materials, the set-up of classroom and isolation room, dorm safety, canteen safety and offered some constructive suggestions. Principal Yang VBS would follow epidemic-related regulations set by superior departments and conduct management to ensure safety of students' return. 

Professional guidance

VBS held the workshop on coronavirus prevention measures. Deputy Principal for Health and Hygenie Mr. Liu Daokuan, also the Head of Health Service Centre for Shuidou Subdistrict, People's Hospital at Longhua District was invited to lecture. He highlighted things that the school had to take note on three aspects - preparation before commencement, daily measures after commencement and improvement measures. He also offered his advice on stock piling the materials, contingency plans, proper use and cautions of disinfectants, UV light usage and management, proper temperature taking exercise and health education. He recommended thymes or songs to guide students on hygiene. Head of Nurse Dr. Shen Tianxia demonstrated the proper way of wearing masks and washing hands. 

Arranged by Longhua District Education Bureau, Deputy Principal Liu would perform his regular health service at VBS. Dr. Luo Huiping from People's Hospital at Longhua District would also offer her professional service as a stationed doctor at VBS. 

Training Workshop

Head of Security Mr. Kane Zhang introduced the work manuals for the commencement. He has made detailed explanation on commuting, entering the campus, classroom set-up, study, ventilation, disinfection methods, temperature taking exercise, masks disposal, parents' pick-up point, forms for absence of class, tracking, return check-up, contingency plan and dry-run. All staff members would have a better understanding on the prevention work and their roles so that they can perform their work by rules. 

Principal's Conclusion

Principal Yang requested all staff to follow the school's requirement for epidemic prevention and perform their duties when guiding parents and students on commencement matters. Everyone should stick to regulations to handle the emergency and solve the problems. 

Dry-run 2.0

Deputy Principal Liu and Dr. Luo Huiping guided the school members to perform another dry-run on 7th May. This dry-run was about handling situations during peak hours in the morning at the gate, during the lesson time and at night. Head of General Affairs Mr. Lucas Lin, Head of Security Mr. Kane Zhang, school doctors and life teachers took part in this dry-run. After the dry-run, Deputy Principal Liu spoke with the school epidemic prevention group again to review the dry-run to ensure complete safety. 

Longhua District Education Bureau has prioritised students' return by appointing a stationed doctor and professional Deputy Principal for Health and Hygenie. VBS staff members are fully prepared for the post-outbreak school life with detailed plans, multiple dry-runs, training and increased awareness on epidemic prevention. They will also dedicate themselves to build the safe and harmonious campus with detailed measures and high morale so that students can return to school safe.
