A single stroke of China - 1st Chinese Class for international teachers

VBS News Net: Chinese class is an exclusive benefit for international teachers at VBS, and has been taught personally by Principal Ms Cara Yang over a year. The first Chinese class was held in the morning of 27th September, in light of the upcoming 70th National Day of China, Principal Yang held a fascinating session on Chinese traditional culture - A single stroke of China. Principal Yang hoped to teach international teachers Chinese culture from the other perspective this time - calligraphy.

Principal Yang started with the tool which ancient Chinese used to write - writing brush , and went on to introduce the four treasures in the Chinese study : writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper. She taught teachers the right way to hold the and writing skills. International teachers were thrilled to learn calligraphy and picked up to practise.

 




With the meticulous guidance by Principal Yang and Ms Victoria Zhang, international teachers wrote China using the writing brushes. With multiple times of practice, international teachers were getting better and better, they marked their names or China on the Chinese bookmark as gifts to themselves. Mr Mark posted a moment on his wechat, "Today I learned to write my first Chinese word and the word is China. I'm so excited.' International teachers found the class fascinating and would like to practise writing with brush pens.

In light of the globalised education, VBS to build an innovative internationalised school, ten international teachers from all over the globe brought their own culture to teach while learning the Chinese culture. Whoever walks through the VBS door, is a VBSer regardless of his or her origins.  Enabling every teacher to acquire growth is part of the school philosophy. International teachers put in effort to learn Chinese language and culture, making the combination and co-existence of the Chinese culture and the international one at VBS possible, together with local teachers, make the foundation for students' development.
