For the important annual Mid-Autumn Festival, Longhua District Vanke Bilingual School organized a series of thematically rich and diverse practical activities. These activities aim to guide students along the long river of history and explore the profound cultural heritage of the Mid-Autumn Festival. They not only pay tribute to traditional festival activities, but also provide a spiritual connection to the culture. With creatively designed practical assignments, students’ enthusiasm for exploring and experiencing Chinese civilization is sparked. 一年级：中秋到，庆佳节

The theme of the Mid-Autumn practical assignment for first-grade students is “The Mid-Autumn Festival Arrives, Celebrating the Festival.” In this magical moment, their little ears listen to enchanting tales about the Jade Rabbit making elixirs in the Moon Palace, Wu Gang tirelessly chopping down the osmanthus tree, and Chang’e gracefully flying to the moon, sparking endless curiosity about these ancient legends. In their hands, pencils danced as they use colorful crayons and limitless imagination to create unique mooncake designs. This creative project not only helped the tradition of the Mid-Autumn Festival take root and flourish in their hearts but also filled the holiday with the laughter of childhood innocence.

二年级：弘扬传统 情满中秋

The theme of the third graders’ Mid-Autumn practical assignment is “Many Joyful Reunions and Fun Activities for the Mid-Autumn Festival.” They transformed into young designers, carefully creating festive greeting cards. The cards were adorned with vibrant colors and lively text, narrating the bravery of Hou Yi shooting down the suns, the elegance of Chang’e flying to the moon, and the resilience of Wu Gang chopping the cassia tree. These ancient mythological stories were revitalized in the hands of the children, carrying profound historical significance and cultural depth.

Moreover, the children bravely embraced the joy of learning English by translating Mid-Autumn customs into English, allowing this Eastern festival to connect with the whole world. They created a series of comics, using delicate strokes of the pen to capture beautiful moments like enjoying the full moon and tasting mooncakes with their families. Each page was filled with the warmth of family and the joys of the festival. Throughout this process, the children experienced the charm of traditional festivals.

四年级：情满中秋 弘扬传统

Grade 4: Filled with Warm Feelings for the Mid-Autumn Festival and Promoting Tradition

当凉爽的风轻轻吹过，四年级的同学们像是打开了一本古老的故事书，通过完成中秋节实践作业，他们踏上了探索传统文化之旅。“中秋习俗我知道，中秋活动我记录”，这不仅仅是一句口号，而是一场生动的文化体验。

As the cool breeze gently blows by, the fourth graders seemed to have opened an ancient storybook. While completing their Mid-Autumn Festival practical assignments, they embarked on a journey to explore traditional culture. “I know about Mid-Autumn customs, and I can record Mid-Autumn activities” is not just a slogan, but a vivid cultural experience.

中秋源自对天象的崇拜，又称祭月节、月光诞、月夕、秋节、仲秋节、拜月节、月娘节、月亮节、团圆节等，为中国四大传统节日。此时，五年级的学子们投身于一场融合传统与现代、知识与趣味的中秋PBL实践作业。猜灯谜，作为中秋节的经典传统，被赋予了新的教育意义。孩子们巧妙构思，匠心独运，设计出一个个寓意深远、趣味盎然的灯谜，这些灯谜如同智慧的珍珠，串联起同学们的思维火花。中秋猜灯谜活动不仅是一场脑力的竞技，更是一次文化的盛宴，让同学们在探索中领略中华文化的博大精深。

The Mid-Autumn Festival, originating from celestial worship, is known by various names such as Moon Festival, Lantern Festival, and Reunion Festival, and it stands among China’s four major traditional celebrations. During this time, the fifth-grade students engaged in a project-based learning (PBL) assignment that blended tradition with modernity, as well as knowledge with enjoyment. Guessing riddles, a classic tradition of the Mid-Autumn Festival, has been given new educational significance. The children cleverly conceived of and created a variety of riddles that were both meaningful and entertaining. These riddles are like pearls of wisdom, connecting the sparks of thought among the students. The Mid-Autumn riddle-guessing activity is not only a mental competition but also a cultural feast, allowing students to appreciate the richness and depth of Chinese culture through exploration.

月饼，这一中秋节的美食象征，其口味的演变与创新，体现了时代的脉搏。在本次实践作业中，孩子们扮演了小小研究员的角色，他们通过现场调研，对不同年龄层、不同背景的人们进行了细致的月饼口味偏好调查。

Mooncakes, the culinary symbol of the Mid-Autumn Festival, reflects the flow of the times through their evolving flavors and innovations. In this practical assignment, the children took on the roles of young researchers. They conducted detailed surveys on mooncake flavor preferences among people of different ages and backgrounds through on-site investigations.

六年级：同赏中秋之韵 共赴明月之约

Grade 6: Enjoying the Charm of the Mid-Autumn Festival Together: Embracing the Moonlit Promise

在这次中秋实践作业中，六年级学生承担起了“中国文化宣传学生代表”的角色，他们以中秋作业为媒介，向各国友人介绍了中秋节的传统与意义。

In this Mid-Autumn practical assignment, the sixth-grade students took on the role of “student representatives for promoting Chinese culture.” They used their Mid-Autumn assignments as a medium to introduce the traditions and significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival to friends from various countries.

他们自编的诗歌充满了对节日的热爱和对月亮的美好想象；他们绘制的中英双语的中秋文化手册，包含精美的插画和详尽的解释，成为连接中外文化交流的桥梁，也展现了中国学生的艺术才华和对传统文化的热爱；他们还从文化大使的角度，热情探索我国嫦娥奔月工程的奥秘，用多种语言将其背后的故事和科技亮点，生动地分享给世界，让更多人感受到中国航天的魅力。

Their self-composed poetry brimmed with a passion for festivals and had vivid imagery about the moon. They created a bilingual Mid-Autumn cultural handbook featuring exquisite illustrations and detailed explanations, which served as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and other countries, showcasing the artistic talent and passion for traditional culture of our students. Additionally, from the perspective of cultural ambassadors, they enthusiastically explored the mysteries of China’s Chang’e moon mission, sharing its stories and technological highlights with the world in multiple languages, allowing more people to experience the charm of Chinese space exploration.

七年级：中秋探月相 放飞航天梦

Grade 7: Exploring the Moon During the Mid-Autumn Festival and Fulfilling the Dream of Space Exploration.

七年级的同学们不仅体会到了团圆的温暖，更是在皎洁的月光下，放飞了探索宇宙的梦想。他们像是一群小小的天文学家，通过观察月亮的阴晴圆缺，从细细的月牙到明亮的满月，他们记录下了月相的每一个变化，用彩笔和卡片制作出月相变化图，每一张都充满了孩子们对科学的热爱和对未知的好奇。他们还深入学习了中国航天事业的发展，“嫦娥工程”的故事激发了他们的爱国情怀和对太空探索的渴望，激励着他们不断探索未知世界。

The seventh graders not only experienced the warmth of family reunion but also chased their dreams of exploring the universe under the bright moonlight. Like a group of young astronomers, they observed the phases of the moon, recording every change from the delicate crescent to the bright full moon. They created a chart of the lunar phases using colorful pens and cards, with each piece reflecting their love for science and curiosity about the unknown. They also delved into the development of China’s space program, with the story of the “Chang’e Project” inspiring their patriotism and desire for space exploration, motivating them to continue exploring the unknown world.

八年级：人间至味是团圆

Grade 8: The Most Exquisite Essence of Life is Reunion

八年级的学生将中秋实践作业玩出了花样，他们以满腔热情和无限创意，策划了一场家庭中秋活动，让这个“团圆节”焕发出别样的活力。学生们的方案中，有赏月猜灯谜的欢声笑语，有月饼DIY的甜蜜手作，还有家庭才艺秀的温馨展演。这些活动不仅让家人之间的情感在月光下更加紧密，也让中秋的团圆氛围在家中每个角落弥漫。他们用行动证明了，传统节日也可以如此生动有趣，让这个中秋成为了家人心中最闪亮的记忆。

The eighth-grade students brought creativity and enthusiasm to their Mid-Autumn practical assignment, planning a family activity that made this “Reunion Festival” vibrant and lively. Their proposals included moon viewing and riddle guessing, sweet DIY mooncake-making, and heartwarming family talent shows. These activities not only strengthened the bonds between family members under the moonlight but also infused the atmosphere with the feeling of reunion. They demonstrated through their actions that traditional festivals can be lively and interesting, making this Mid-Autumn Festival the brightest memory in their families’ hearts.
