How to implement the national curriculum system in the school?

1. 2. For subjects supported by the education bureau for innovation, bilingual and school-based approach is adopted. Such as music and art lessons are taught by foreign teachers. How to manifest the bilingual teaching in the school?

The bilingual teaching in Vanke Bilingual School is manifested in 3 aspects:

1. Teaching in both Chinese and English. Major subjects, such as math, English, science and so forth, are taught by both English and Chinese. That is to say, the Chinese teacher teaches based on systematic knowledge points and foreign teacher give theme-based teaching in allusion to phased and special modules in an English environment. On one hand, children learn the English expressions of academic words and concepts, on the other hand, the foreign teacher guides innovative and practical experiment and investigative study.

2. The English language learning course comprises 2 parts. The first part is the basic parts (words, grammar and so forth) in Chinese textbooks plus Longman textbooks (focusing on listening, speaking, reading and writing). The second part is to add ESL courses for second language learners (focusing on communication, oral English and reading) taught by foreign teachers in elementary and secondary schools.

3. Introduce foreign quality courses that use foreign textbooks and taught by foreign teachers.

Vanke bilingual school assesses the students from a multi-dimensional way. First, evaluation mode at the end of the course is not all about examinations. Different modes of evaluation, such as experiment, speech, paper and so forth, are used based on different course contents and knowledge modules. Second, the school dismantle different elements. For instance, students’ reading, comprehension, grammar and applied writing abilities are evaluated in a multi-dimensional way in English written exam to provide a detailed and scientific assessment of the students. At the same time, the school is subject to the teaching quality supervision by Longhua Education Bureau.

What about the teaching team of the school?

How will the students in Vanke Bilingual School develop in the future?

Vanke Bilingual School emphasizes on the sound personality and personalized development. They will learn useful knowledge in an efficient classroom. They will applied what they learn from textbooks in abundant program researches, selective courses and student club’s activities and cultivate their comprehensive abilities. Depending on abundant stadiums and facilities, they will also build their bodies and grasp at least one outdoor sport in PE lessons and “healthy one hour”every day.

The ratio of selective courses will increase since Grade 8. The students can choose the subjects they are good at and learn advanced knowledge. Or they can develop their talents, such as selecting advanced courses in art and PE. Students who want to further their study abroad can gradually increase the ratio of courses taught in English. At Grade 8, students can choose to further their study abroad or prepare for the senior high school entrance examination based on his/her personalized development.
